Vitters is probably going to play in September anyway since the minor league season is almost over. He's also younger than Valbuena so there's room to improve. Of course, at this point Valbuena is the better defender and has a bat that's marginally better so it'd be hard to sit Valbuena while Vitters continues to struggle.
I disagree. It's easy to sit Valbuena because he's not really the future of the team... I don't really think Vitters is, but I think he at least deserves his shot. It's not like we're in a pennant race or anything lol.
That's the fan perspective and I agree with it. But the Cubs obviously had a plan or else Vitters would be playing every day by default. Do you happen to have Vitters' platoon splits?
I assume you mean in the minors? No. In the Majors, both are under .350 OPS. He's been bad. But I can see it having a psychological effect on him. He's used to playing everyday. He's now on the bench. He can't get into a groove. I mean, it very well could be that he's just going to be this bad. But we can't know until we find out. Valbuena is bad and has no future with this team. I get he is playing because he is the "best option" but he doesn't need to be hitting 2nd. That's where Castro should be. Line up aggravations!
Castro is not a 2 hole hitter. you are high if you think he belongs in the 2 hole.
