My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Michigan Wolverines
  2. Purdue Boilermakers
Berry is going to get more than 4/48 most likely. I really hope QBs fall in the draft like they're currently saying. I don't expect it, but if the Bears could get a top notch defensive talent with the first pick, and still use that 2nd pick to either draft or move up to draft Watson, they could get good real quick. Also, I don't see the Bears getting Berry, but if they did, I'd cream my pants at the possibility of him and Jabrill Peppers in the secondary.

yeah i dont know what to think about fatty no knees... is he done??.. pretty expensive for a olb with zero explosion left... maybe the offseason will do wonders... he needs some of that deer antler spray/cream... i really dont advocate changing players position often... but fatten him up, it wont be hard to do and let him play de fulltime... sign another fa olb with all that cash..
McPhee is an exceptional OLB when playing healthy. We certainly want to do everything to make him healthy at a moderate weight, considering his knee problems, look closely and use all of our deadline time to assess him.

But my understanding is he likely has lingering bad knee. This year he's played 7 games, 10 tackles, 2 sacks, missed 5 games.

I would completely plan on replacing him. Can Bears get 6.5-sack OLB with that 7mil? That's what McPhee avg 2014-15.

If there's a good chance McPhee is healthy, then keep him, a better OLB rotation is no waste, tho 7m is a lot to keep in flux.

I think today's performance confirmed we keep McPhee. When fit he's a monster. I still take Barnett at 4 though if Garrett and Allen are gone.

I am even more of a fan of Barkley now.

Howard is indeed a monster.

McPhee looked good today: 2 sacks 3 tackles. Have to stay tuned, 2 more games, good trend.

I doubt a good QB falls to the Bears in the draft. I would look at Marlon Humphrey or Cam Robinson with the Bear's first pick.

Neither of those guys are top 5 Worthy. Cam will definitely get over drafted because the OT class is suspect at best.

I think only 1 QB will be taken before the Bears pick (49ers). If that's the case then Garrett and Allen are gone you'd have to think before the Bears are up.

If we can get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for moving back in the top 10 I'd probably take it as we'd likely be able to still get Barnett, a safety or CB or Cam Robinson if he's the best OT available though I'd prefer not to take an OT in the first. Barkley looked just fine overall in the pocket today (1 strip sack aside granted) and has done since he took over. Massie is doing a lot better recently which makes me think Wagner might be a touch 'overkill' in FA. To counter that I think most of the teams we've faced in the last few games don't have great pass rushes anymore though the Titans have done quite well this season.

If McPhee is back to normal then getting Jonathan Allen in the first round followed by Ryan Ramcyzk in the 2nd would be my dream scenario if we manage to attack our secondary issues in FA.

In Fanspeak on the clock I keep getting Jonathan Allen followed by the option of either Reuben Foster or O J Howard.

I think if Allen is still available at 4 we'd likely be offered a decent trade offer to move back.

With Bradley fired the new coach at the Jags may want a new QB which would mean we'd probably have the option of Allen.

Another(one) Mock Draft

FA Cuts/Release etc
48 mill cap space in 2017

Logan Paulson-0.5mill
Ben Braunecker(PS)-0.5mill
Daniel Braverman(PS)-0.5mill
Eddie Royal -5mill
David Fales -0.5mill
Ted Larsen or Grasu -0.5mill
Mike Adams -0.5mill
Jay Cutler -14mill
Mitch Unrein -1mill
CJ Wilson -0.5mill
Jonathan Anderson -0.5mill
Tracy Porter -3.5mill
Deonte Thompson or Josh Bellamy -0.5mill
Chris Prosinski -0.5mill
Demontre Hurst -0.5mill
Lamar Houston -5mill
Ego Ferguson -1mill
Will Sutton -0.7mill
FA Resigns/Signings
Alshon Jeffery 12.5 mill a year, AJ could be resigned which would be great for us, if he can stay healthy the rest of his career... (AJ,Meredith,White)
A.J Bouye or Stephen Gilmore 10-12 mill range a year, CB1 opposite of who ever wins the 2nd CB position
Brian Hoyer(cheap deal again) 3 year 10 mill Matt Barkley's position to lose.
Jack Doyle 4 year 20 mill *Zach Miller might be cut in place of Doyle
Eric Kush 3 year 8 mill depth
CornWash 2 year 6 mill depth
Lawrence Guy or Chris Baker 4 year 14 mill rotational guy
Bennie Logan 4 years 35 mill I'm only putting this here because Goldman and Logan rotating and shifting along the line would be devastating. Poe is a possibility sack numbers are down and he'd be cheaper imo.
Chandler Jones 5 year 90 mill (Melvin Ingram is a possibility but way cheaper imo) Floyd/Jones/Mcphee/Young beast OLB

fyi this leaves us with roughly 15-18 million in cap space after cuts FA stuff (zach Miller would save us an additional 2.5mill)

now we're left with a different set of needs like(no order) QB , OT, Free Safety, TE, RB

2017 NFL DRAFT
#4 Pick of the litter here boys Deshone Kizer*, Cam Robinson, Malik Hooker, Mitch Trubisky
#36 Pick Ryan Ramczyk (Marcus Maye is a possibility)
#68 Pick David Njoku
#100 Pick Eddie Jackson
#110 Pick Nick Chubb
#132 Pick Stacy Coley
7th Round

i like bennie logan... probably gonna command 8-10 mil per... poe seems on the down production wise. plus both of those guys are starters and goldman is a competent starter when healthy himself...id rather take that money and use it towards signing a s and a second cb....nt depth is needed for sure... just draft one...

You're right for some reason I thought Damon Harrison got a 6 mill a year contract. I'll fix it but he is mainly there cuz of availability, Goldman's injuries and because Goldman might be able to play at DE for us.

As far as corners go we'd have Banks, Gilmore or Bouye, Fuller, Hall, Callahan, Leblanc, mcmanis.
Safeties HJQ, Amos, Bush, Eddie Jackson, Carson
ILB we might be looking at Jones, Kwiatkoski, Timu, Trevathan, Freeman.
OLB Robert-harris, Jones, Floyd, Mcphee, Young
DLine cornwash, Logan, Goldman, Hicks, Guy.

Malik Hooker is returning to school. With a new coach coming to Jacksonville he may demand a new QB. This may allow for us to get Allen in the first round of the draft.

Gilmore is a solid pick in FA to fill the No.1 CB slot. I think you need to make a run at Eric Berry to fill the FS slot. Eddie Jackson would likely have been a 2d rounder if not for injury but I am not sure that means he falls to the 4th round.

I like Ramcyzk. Njkou as well though I think Jake Butt or Jordan Leggett may be better all round options.

I wouldn't pay up for Bennie Logan. Prefer to draft either Vincent Taylor or Dalvin Tomlinson to fill the NT slot which would Goldman allow to move between NT and DE. Soon enough if he can stay fit we'll be paying up for Goldman and Hicks will need another contract.

Chandler Jones will cost too much and I can't believe the Cards let him out of Arizona though they do have to pay Campbell or he walks.

Eric Berry and Stephon Gilmore would be my primary targets in FA. I'd hope to get Mike Glennon to compete with Barkley (no need for Hoyer) as well or draft Patrick Mahomes II instead. Massie keeping the heat away from Barkley so far and has improved as the season has gone on so I am a little undecided on Ricky Wagner now though he's a very solid player.

gilmore would be nice but dont see him reaching free agency, he'll be tagged by bills, same goes for jones, cardinals not letting him walk after they traded for him especially when he's there best pass rusher. may have better shot at berry since chiefs will be close to cap max. bouye may reach the open market due to texans tight cap space.

there is no real reason to release porter his contract is cheap and is solid...banks and fuller are unknowns, mcmanis is a special teams player, callahan is injury prone, hall is inconsisten, leblanc got schooled yesterday.

I don't see the Bears spending a ton of money in free agency. I think if they do, it'll be just to replace players that already make a lot of money. I don't think they'll spend a ton on a QB, but I think if they spend big FA dollars on their other needs (WR, TE, OT, CB) it'll be in lieu of Jeffery, Miller (injury history), Massie, and Porter. Safety is the only position I could see them spending on without a corresponding cut of a big salary player, and I really don't see them getting into a big bidding war for Eric Berry.

Hooker and Chubb going back to school. Don't see Jackson being there in the 4th. Big time talent, only suffered a broken leg so may be good to go by combine. Former CB, so coverage skills, return ability (3 PR TDs before getting hurt) and speed will get him drafted earlier than that if he's healthy.
