partly because of bargnani lol...

i think everything else about boozer should weight out rebounding....even rebounding which one of boozer's strong point is declining because he's aging

I just looked up their top scorers:

Bargnani- 24.0
DeRozan- 18.5
Calderon- 12.2
Barbosa- 10.8
Bayless- 8.3
A. Johnson- 6.7
Davis- 5.3

Depending on what Bargnani is doing for his points, it doesn't look like they're getting a lot of points in the paint.

Here are their top rebounders:

Bargnani- 6.0
A. Johnson- 6.0
Magloire- 4.7
J. Johnson- 4.5
Calderon- 4.2

bargnani isnt much of a paint scorer...boozer certainly helps their post game..but boozer does alot of mid range face up as well...

i actually expect amir johnson and ed davis to be better as the season progresses as well...

To be honest I haven't read all of this thread but I'm surprised this has had so many replies.

Ellis is better than Deng and Noah. If you can pick up Ellis for either of them, then you take it and thank your lucky stars you got a player that can create his own shot, shoots well, gets your team steals and takes pressure off your team for a player that flops on both boards and a player that consistently misses open jumpers.

No disrespect meant... but that was, by far, the worst assessment of Ellis' skill set I've ever heard. He's an undersized shooting guard who's a total ball hog and it makes matters worse that his shot selection is among the worst in the NBA. He doubles as a saloon door on defense -- swinging open to let people by. He's a good scorer, I'll give him that. Outside of that, he offers us nothing else. Steals and blocked shots don't necessarily make somebody a stalwart defender. Our decision to pick Rip Hamilton to be our starting two guard was the right choice.

What did I say that was inaccurate?

He does create his own shot.
He's a career 47% from the field, hardly chucking stats.
He's 1.7 on Steals per game for his career, better than anybody on the Bulls.

Yeah he is undersized and is not a great defender, but him and Curry did a good job on Rose this year. He's still better than Noah or Deng.

i think you've already addressed this...but steals is not a good way to judge how good someone is at defense

frankly..there really isnt one or two stats that you can use as quantification for defense....defensive win shares and defensive rating are ok...but they have flaws(defensive rating is inflated for big men i believe)

anywho, ellis definitely can create his own shot...which also means that he has a tendency to be a bit more ball dominant

he's not a good defender and he is undersized

is he better than noah? yes...although i am not the biggest fan of comparing players who are completely different in style of play and position

better than deng? that becomes more of a debate

I'm starting to think Jimmy Butler can create his own shot.

Never happen. The closest he gets to Chicago is Indianapolis.

I found this forum while searching for trade rumors and it looks like everyone here is a pretty dedicated Bulls fan and after reading the title of this post I got worried. And most agree that Noah or Deng arent worth Ellis. While I wouldnt rish giving up Deng because we dont have a backup. You have to be crazy not to give up Noah for a dynamic scorer who can create his own shot and hit the 3 point shot a consistent pace.

If you guys have watched any of the Bulls games this year or last there is a big gaping hole on our team. While we can dominate most teams on a game to game basis on defense we struggle horribly at times on offense. We just dont have enough shooters and Rose is getting the attention of all the defenders on the floor. No team is scared of anyone else on the floor at any time. Great Deng and Boozer and score 15-20 points maybe once or twice a week but can they take over a game? Never. Rip was a good pick up, but hes already injured, struggled somewhat on the defensive end and is definitely not going to be creating his own shot in the playoffs.

I hate to break up this team cause Ive grown to like them all but Noah is sooooo expendable. He is just awful and unwatchable on the offensive end and overrated passer. Yes he is a good defender, but it seems as if hes taking a step back this season. I dont think Ive ever seen him have a good game against an elite center. He usually ends up in foul trouble. Asik is the future if we are going to stick with an offensively Special person center. Hes bigger, stronger, rebounder and shot blocker.

If we could give up anyone I would give up Boozer. He is the worst defender Ive ever seen in a Bulls uniform and Taj should be starting every night. Asik and Taj have been in the game more during crunch time than Noah and Boozer.

Its worth taking the risk on Ellis if you can just give up Noah and a combo of picks and/Butler I believe. I think Ellis would have a different mindset on a winning team and Thibs as a coach. Derrick Rose in the backcourt instead of Curry who has been playing on one ankle his whole career. I like his aggressiveness when it comes to steals and if guys get by him Asik and Taj are get help defenders.

Will this ever happen. No cause John Paxson wants to say he drafted a winner, but there is no way we can beat the Heat with great team defense and the MVP.
