Future looks bright.... Really gives Stan a lot of flexibility to hardball their free agent forwards, as there are guys that can likely replace them.

I'm happy for JHayes as he's been EN FUEGO! and has earned this look. Still, I personally would have preferred to see Morin called up first. He's also been EN FUEGO! Since the post-lockout roster has basically been set with the call-ups to the Hawks both of them have been lights out and invaluable to Rockford. But with Morin I am anxious to see if he can regain any of his pre-concussion and developmental setback mojo with the big show. That just really threw 1+ years off his game as he was so all over the place and agitated when he finally returned to action and played with the Hogs last season. This season I have seen a difference and maturity to his game from the very start of the 2012-13 season. His confidence like JHayes' must be soaring right now. And this call-up wouldn't even be a fucking thing to have a beef with if they'd STOP with the fucking farce of having Bollig up and simply look at Morin and JHayes, heh.

IMO Hawks need physicality and that's not Morins game. Thus Hayes gets the nod. I suppose with Sharp out you could put Morin there and Hayes on the 4th and rid us of Bollig, if that's what you were saying.

Yup. And this is what should have happened once Sharpie went down. Instead of shifting every single line how's about replacing a pure scorer with Morin who is a purer scorer than say the other Hogs forwards instead of the fucking wholesale shuffling we saw against EDM. And I never wanted Bollig up here and he's played a useless amount of minutes just like Mayersso as far as I am concerned JHayes could have been called up a while ago once he started showing such great consistency.

The idea/reason you give Bickell/Stalberg a shot at the LW with Kane..is a bit of a "reward" for their development.

If a coach immediately pulls up an AHL player and plugs him on a line ahead of them, can be a slap in the face. It's a bit of a reward for them to give them that shot.

They did...it didn't work out as well...so be it. It's all about flexibility/trying the combos. It's not saying Hayes is going to get put right on that wing either. Could also be some other team wants to see Hayes at the NHL level if they're interested in trading for him....

Having 2-3 guys at the AHL playing well that can be argued who can be pulled up is a pretty good thing for the Hawks and looks good for the future.

I wish it was Beach and Lalonde though...

yea I wish Lalonde would play wing instead of Defense too.

I too wish they had not fucked with what was the best 3rd line in hockey as well. I would have also brought up Hayes the minute Sharp went down, but there was something with him not on the IR and them at the maximum roster, although they sent down and brought back Bollig. I didn't get that either.

Jimmy Hayes will be thrown right into the fire that is the Chicago Blackhawks' season.

Recalled Tuesday from Rockford of the AHL, Hayes skated on the Hawks' second line with fellow winger Patrick Kane and venter Dave Bolland during Wednesday's practice and will likely remain in that spot when the team kicks off a four-game road trip against the Blue Jackets on Thursday night in Columbus.

"(Kane's) a really good player," the 6-foot-6, 221-pound Hayes said. "I just have to stick to my game, be big, physical and use my speed. You just want to make sure you go to the net and just try to get open for (Kane). He's playmaker."

Hayes played in 31 games with the Hawks last season and finished with five goals and four assists.

"I have to be more consistent this year," Hayes said. "I just have to make sure I'm ready to play every night and play hard and continue to play with energy."

A winger throughout his hockey career, Hayes had been shifted to center with Rockford this season as the Hawks look to develop more depth at the position. Hayes had 22 goals and 17 assists in 58 games with Rockford before his recall.

"I've probably been playing (center) for at least 40 (games)," Hayes said. "It's going well. I'm feeling confident there. It's a spot I just have to continue to develop. There are a lot of things you have to work on as a center."

One-timers: Corey Crawford will start in goal for the Hawks when they face the Blue Jackets. ... The Hawks placed forward Rostislav Olesz on waivers.

Even for a top six spot, I think you give Hayes the nod over Morin just based on tools... It's not like he's not talented. That line could use some physical play too, that's for damn sure. Sure, we can argue about Mayers/Bollig being played ahead of guys in Rockford, but it hasn't hurt the team thus far, and those options are always there. Hayes is the right call in this situation, and I'm a pretty big Morin fan.

I don't know, I think an argument can be made that Bollig or Mayers playing 3 min games hurts the team in the long run--if they're not playing more minutes then someone else is. Yeah, yeah, yeah I realize it's the 4th line we're talking about with Bollig but I am pretty much of the opinion that even 4th liners have to contribute more than 3 mins on average to justify their usefulness. It certainly doesn't get me to buy into the bullshit "we're rolling four lines" meme that keeps getting fed to the public.

as long as someone sticks up when our players are run I could care less. I hate when other teams run our guys and there is zero response. Hayes is big enough to throw his body around.

In games where Frolik/Kruger kill a lot of penalties, those guys hardly play. In other games, their minutes go up. Just how it's going to be, since those two are the first PKers on the ice.

Exactly. Why play with guys you know are liabilities on the ice if they get too much time out there? Or are liablities no matter how much time they get on the ice (Bollig)? Why talk about the 4th line as a "goon" line? The Hawks have the personal to not have to do that. So why do it? With Carcillo filling that useless outdated role of enforcer but who can also play hockey, that should've made Bollig immediately expendable, as if he wasn't already. Don't **** around with having a good third line after two years of not having much of one at all. That's not a "punishment" for those players, or rather seen as not getting a "reward" for them, that should be seen as a compliment to them. That they are too valuable playing together on that line to break up.

I don't know enough about Hayes. Can he skate? Hard to keep up with Kane so that's my own concern. Don't want Hayes slowing down the line if he can't skate well for a big man.

He's worked pretty hard the past two offseasons since the Hawks got him in that trade and his skating is noticeably improved. Not a speed demon or any discernible acceleration talent that I can see but it's NHL serviceable unlike say Bruno, LOL. Just because of the Lurch size body he can still occasionally get caught looking awkward out there IMO. He's not Kaner quick though---his best bet to stick is to simply make it to the net and be the "support" in puck support. His size plus being in front of the net plus his hands plus his hockey IQ are where his success lie. He has never and doesn't play a physical power forward game---the body belies this and that's always been his "issue" since his amateur days. Stays out of penalty trouble, doesn't fight often---he's really just a competently smart winger (though the Hawks gave up on trying to make him play a physical game and decided to make him a C this year, heh) with ginormous size that's hard to move off the puck and with as I said pretty good hands. He's someone who's willing to go to the dirty areas though to compensate for the fact that he doesn't throw the size around all over the ice.

He was pretty noticeable with his physical play when I watched him during his call ups last season....

Oh, and he has been noticeably better at the dots of late for Rockford too though I have no idea if Q will be playing him at C or the wing. Not like Toews awesome but looking pretty good or at least serviceable at the dots. Much better these days then when they first threw him a fucking curveball and were like, "Hey, we've been thinking and all of a sudden we'd like you to start playing C even though you haven't since you were a kid", heh.

Scratch that, just read Hedger's Twitter feed, he practiced today as wing on the second line so now I do know they're not playing him at C. BESTEST news of all is that the 3rd line is reunited. . .and it feels so good.
