Cubs lost out on Luke Gregerson to the Astros, so its believed they may still be looking to add a Reliever. .

I really believe they will be looking now to add an impact bat for LF via trade and not someone to platoon with Coughlin. .

Kris Bryant will start opening day IF he has a solid ST

Little tid bit... in case you forgot from movie Back to Future

I have been on Twitter awaiting the Jon Lester news, so I saw this about, oooohhhh....a billion times. :)

Funny, I have never once heard anyone reference Back to The Future II in my life, and did not know until this week that the cubs win a WS in it.

Reports are Justin Upton would waive his no-trade to the Cubs now

I don't know who it would cost, but it would be too much. Guy wants to be a FA and will be too expensive.

I see 2015 being like something between the 2007 & 2008 Blackhawks seasons. Better than the 2007 "learning to win" year but not quite 2008 where they're making real hay in the postseason.

It wouldn't be surprising.

Would like it only if it's something like a 3-4 year deal worth 18-20 AAV

I don't think this has much truth. It would not surprise me to see the Cubs linked to multiple players now. The Cubs spending money is news and there are lots of Cubs fans itching for stories about how the rebuild is over and how the Cubs are marching to the playoffs.

I don't think another starter is coming in, unless it is a reclamation project.

I really would like to see a high OBA LF/CF. I don't think they have the answer at either spot right now so getting someone for one of those spots would be really nice.

Jed said he wanted to add 2 SP. He did so. It is the odds makers that are saying that the Cubs need 2 better than Arrieta to be legit.

After signing Jon Lester, the Cubs are now pursuing outfielder Jonny Gomes in an apparent effort to get the band back together, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (via Twitter).

The Padres and Cubs are “turning up” their efforts to add a right-handed power bat, tweets David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, who notes that Upton is one elite option on the market. At this point, the possible involvement of the Cubs on more prominent outfield targets remains largely an undercurrent, and O’Brien himself cautions not to read between the lines too much on that possibility.
The Cubs are pursuing a power bat capable of playing in left, tweets Jim Bowden of ESPN.com. Chicago has, of course, been tied to Jonny Gomes, but it is not clear if the club might have its eyes on a larger prize.

I'm not sure where they plan on putting payroll but Melky would be ideal in LF. Another option: Wood to the Phills for D. Brown. Both are off of bad seasons and both should get around the same in Arb. A platoon of Gomes and Brown has more potential than Ruggiano and Coghlan.

The ideal line up would be:

Alcantara
Castro
Rizzo
Bryant
Soler
Brown/Gomes
Baez
Montenero/Castillo

Baez could move up if he adapts this year but I see him as having the biggest adjustment to go thorugh and I wouldn't put him into a run producing role until he adapts.

Bryce Harper to the Cubs?

Could be pure speculation but MLBN is throwing it out there, reporting that the Nationals are working on a trade that will blow the roof off the winter meetings

MLBN is the ones who brought up Bryce Harper. Could be Strasburg. They said they were thinking Chicago or Boston, because not many others have the farm to pull off a deal. Would depend on what the end all goal is. Pitching/hitting, stars/prospects
