If you like Samurai movies you should have Hulu Plus just for the Criterion Collection.

I didnt know they put them on Hulu Plus, I have never used Hulu. But I do own the samurai flicks they have put out. For the most part, I like the Criterion versions.

Dallas Buyers Club was pretty good. I'd probably give it about 7/10. McConaughey was great, Jared Leto was even better, but Jennifer Garner was kind of bad. Although, I've never liked her in any movie. I hate that the movie had to have one those rah, rah scenes with everyone clapping for the hero.

Happy Holidays!

Watched Reindeer Games tonight for the first time in at least 5 years. Ben Affleck used to be a beast actor.

I'd bang "Ashley".

Apparently there's going to be some Justice League cameos in the new Batman vs Superman movie. Wonder Woman is confirmed and also, Flash is likely.

They've pick Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, which makes no sense whatsoever. Unless she's going on a massive body building training program to prepare for the film. She's scrawny as hell.

Prisoners (2013) was an excellent movie. Really good mystery, it's like a combination of Mystic River and Seven. Movie is a bit on the longer side (bit over 2.5 hours I think), but you don't even notice it. Another movie that proves Hugh Jackman can actually act.

Only thing I didn't like about it is one scene in the movie gives away who the killer is 1.5 hrs before the movie is over.

Off topic, but that is why I LOVED Insomnia. Here you have a murder mystery where the killer is revealed in the TRAILER and it is still awesome.

The scene where the detective is talking to that old lady who said a kid disappeared like 30 years ago in the same location and she thinks the same person is responsible. The moment I heard that I knew it was the aunt. The only thing I was wrong about is I thought maybe those two creeps were her henchmen or something, but they turned out not to be.

Watched some movies this weekend

"The Family" I'll give it a 6.5 on a scale of 1-10. Worth a look.

"Wolverine" I'd give it a 6 on a scale of 1-10. If you like the X-men/Marvel superheroes films this is probably a must see.

Another Movie Weekend

We're the Millers - Predictable plot. Jenn Aniston prancing around in underwear while wet. 5 oot of 10. Wait for it on cable

Despicable Me 2 - My daughter liked it, then again what cartoon movie has she not liked? I didn't really pay much attention.

Grown Ups 2 - Wait for it on cable. 3/10

2 Guns - Predictable plot, despite being about double cross after double cross. 5/10. I'll never like Marky Mark in quasi-military roles.

Elysium - This was somewhat entertaining. Sci-Fi thriller about overpopulated decaying Earth. 7/10.

Which version, the original Norwegian/Swedish film with Stellan Skarsgård (1997) or the remake with Pacino/Williams (2002)? I prefer the Skarsgård film, which deals with a Swedish police detective called in to help investigate a murder in a Norwegian town located above the Arctic Circle in the middle of the summer.
The investigation goes horribly wrong when he mistakenly shoots his partner and subsequently attempts to cover up his bungle.
The title of the film refers to his inability to sleep, (represented by the relentless glare of the midnight sun).

I enjoyed them both. One of the few remake movies where both were really good.

If I had to pick one, I would go with the remake only because of native language and culture. What I didnt like about the remake was the length. I think there are a few scenes that could have easily been cut/trimmed.

That and I remember the remake much more only having seen the original once.
