On Bookie's awesome recommendation (a while back) I caught the "Sherlock" series from BBC on Netflix Streaming and it was fucking great. Season 1 is really just broken up into the three cases that each play like a movie and I'm chomping at the bit for Season 2. Great modern take on the AC Doyle characters... including Martin Freeman as Watson as an Afghan War veteran.

I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates a good mystery and an even better detective.

Yeah I saw previews for it on the Dr. Who discs and can't wait to watch it. Glad it's on streaming.

Man, it was soooooooo good wasn't it? Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman played so well off each other! I also like this portrayl that brings up the notion that Holmes while intellectually sterling may techincally be just shy of "quite right" psychologically. I loved his "I am not a psychopath, I am a high-functioning sociopath." quote from the "Study In Pink" episode.

We will be waiting for a good long while for Series 2 to come across The Pond---I can't hardly stands it!

Easily the best line in the series. Really loved the way they portrayed Moriarty, too... supremely diabolical. Moffat and Co. seem to relish creating a Joker/Batman kind of rivalry - characters that are really just opposite sides of the same coin. The series has also pushed me back to the source material for further reading.

And that definitely sucked finding out just how far away we are from the second series.

Jealous you can't have a taste of Rev?

I would really love for them to start doing what they ahve now done with Dr. Who and Torchwood and that is release at the same time, sure the Brits are getting pissy but it's great for us because I find a series just in time to stream all the back episodes and pick up at the current season. I praise Starz for picking up costs on the Torchwood series I thought it was dead, I hope it does well enough to keep it going.

I'll be interested to see Eliza Dushku in the Torchwood web-series they're planning in tandem with the new show...

So true on all points. Fucking pasty Commonwealth wankers---always ruining it for us non-feckless monarchy-having New Worlders. Gah.

Also? Yes, Torchwood RULES. I love me some Captain Jack Harkness. I was so bummed when the actress who plays Martha Jones to the 10th Doctor, Freema Agyeman could not join the Torchwood series permanently as Martha in Series 3 as the producers wanted because she thought there was more job security in doing L&O: London---the DW characters of Martha and Mickey Smith both were supposed to be permanent parts of the spin-off from S3 onward in fact. Makes me sad thinking what could have been even though Torchwood still rocked/rocks without them. Love me some Martha Jones and Mickey though. For reals.

I was unaware of thr L&O part as I only saw a couple and it wasn't spectacular. Not bad... Just to much better to find time and space for it.

Well my pleasure RK. I do what little I can to keep these turdlings in check. Also, it's good to see you hitting up the FYE forum now that we're all in offseason mode.

13 Assassins. It is a Samuri action flick set during the transition to Japanese Imperialism, and is not like the typical Samuri Sunday flicks. The plot is decent and will keep you interested, however it is the action that makes this film a gem. The action is not cheesy and does not use much with the wires, but is very well done. Especially the battle scene that eats about 40 min of film.

It is expected to be on DVD soon, but it is so worth seeing on a big screen for the big action scene alone. Since I have boat work to do today I am going head to the Music Box to see it again this afternoon. I liked it that much.

I watched The God Who Wasn't There last night.

There were a few decent nuggets in the documentary, but overall just a badly produced film.

I also endorse this film. Very well made, and a decent story and great action, and avoids the cheese that could have ensued. Definitely in the spirit of the old school kurosawa films like the 7 samurai.

I just watched the sleazy voyeur film I made last night outside of TSD's bedroom window.

I recommend everyone watch it. Full of suspense and twists.

I believe I will call it..."Paranormal Activities 2..The Break Out"
