Monty Python's Flying Circus---only one of my Top 3 TV series of All-Time! One of my fondest childhood memories was being allowed to stay up late on Sunday evenings to watch Dr. Who and MPFC on PBS back in the 70's! Good times. Back in the day during the 90's when dvds were still sort of in their infancy and folks had started to buy players and discs and by the time I finally got a player, the very first film purchase I decided to get was no measly, wimpy single disc film but instead to really splurge and go all-in for the 13-disc collector's set of the entire series.
I worry about today's generation... they seem to have no concept/appreciation of Monty Python. Maybe that's my generation's fault for not doing a better job passing it down, I don't know. It's disheartening to make a fairly known MP joke (I fart in your general direction!) and have blank eyes stare back at you... of course, maybe that's just me.

And I just recently got into Dr. Who (the Docktaah!) but only the newer re-booted series. I have 9 more Doctors to get caught up on.

Wachted "And Now For Something Completely Different" a few days ago on netflix. Basically a conglomeration of the best skits from the TV series.

Other recent viewings from Netflix

A History of Violence

Pirate Radio

Phantasm

The Mountain Men

Couples Retreat

All entertaining, don't know that I'd pay to rent them though. Phantasm is a B movie cult classic horror flick from the 70s. The Mountain Men is probably Charleton Heston's last leading film role from 1980, similar story line to Jeremiah Johnson.

Python comedy is too smart for the little shit heads of today. In order to understand a lot of Python humor one would have to know a little about history and philosophy. This is what happens when you have a group of very well educated guys forming a comedy group. Even their films like The Holy Grail and Life Of Brian and even The Meaning Of Life were brilliantly written films. The talent and the versatility within the group was outstanding. Each member brought something unique to the table.

There was no bigger influence on sketch comedy than Python. All sketch comedy groups that have existed since Python need to thank them. The good thing is they usually do.

Just saw Public Enemies.

Not great but not terrible either. Depp and Bale are okay but nothing exceptional.

I would say it doesn't live up to all the hype it got.

Watched She's out of my league:

"Basic loser dates hot chick, loser gets insecure, everyone loves each other at the end" type of movie. Some funny parts, but it seems like the writers were trying to replicate a Judd Appatow movie.

*

Youth in Revolt: Was alright, nothing spectacular.

I just watched this as well... I liked the movie up to the the last 10 minutes. How could Jamie Fox's character so completely NOT understand Gerard Butler's motivations? Fox was extremely unlikable in that role... and maybe it was just me, but I found myself actually rooting for Gerard Butler's character.

You too????? Holy shit I'm not deranged.

Foxx's character came off as arrogant and cold to me. I was disappointed the mayor didn't fire his ass....... I would have.

And that's what really bugged me about Jamie Fox's character - he was just so damn smug... even when Butler had "threatened" his family and he gets all uppity he doesn't understand why Butler's character did what he did.

Like I said - up to the last 10 minutes, I loved the movie.

I saw "Predators".

It was about what you would expect. If you enjoyed the original predator you will probably enjoy this.

Im surprised Adrian Brody would do a film like this, he always seems to do "meaningful" "dramatic" roles. At least since hes come to the forfront, hes played some stupid roles as a supporting character in the past.

He also buffed up a little for this role. I mean hes no arnold, but obviously put on some muscle mass, maybe he's trying to prove he can be an action star too, I dont know.

premise:

The predators capture peoples across the galaxy and drop them on a game planet and hunt them. They must really love hunting humans because thats the majority, although there is evidence of them hunting other sentient species.

SO a group of people chosen for various reasons, are dropped on this planet and have to work together to survive. The movie is predictable as all hell.

The Action gets an A, the scirpt/story gets a D.

actually had to turn out the lights outside the fenced area in left

and center field because they were filming across the street......

as for the film.....again well made......and worth the rental for sure....

The jail Dillinger broke out of in Crown Point is about 20 minutes from me. They actually filmed the scene in the movie at the jail. Same old building. The downtown area around it obviously made it easy on them since it really looks like a main street from the 30's.

Thanks for the review on predators, when I first heard about it I going to stay far away but it got some good buzz behind it and I think I'll eventually watch it, especially if you think the action was worth it. As long as I'm in the mindset for it I'm sure it will be fine.

Anyone seen inception yet? Not a Decraprio fan anymore, but love Joseph Gordon-Leavitt and at first I was standoffish on this one too but the more I hear and see and leanr about it the better it get's. EVERYONE has been hyping it as the MOTY, I may... MAY just actually go hit the theater for this one.

My buddy lives in an apartment above a pizza joint in downtown lockport, you can see his apartment in the movie.

I saw the movie "remember me" with that dude from twilight, i watch a hell of alot of movies and was literaly running out of movies to see. If your a dude, and can get over the whole i dont watch chick flicks thing. It was a pretty good movie, and depressing as hell, if you are starting to lose any emotion regarding 9/11 it will come flowing back. I mean the movie has nothing to do with 9/11 until toward the end (Im not ruining anything its pretty obvious from the start that the close of the film will have something to do with 9/11). If you get emotional from movies you will probably have the waterworks flowing before the credits roll.

Kick-Ass

Mildly amusing. Did not catch my attention completely as I found myself doing other stuff while watching it. The little girl swearing and being a badass seemed like a tacked on novelty.

I thought the movie was really well made, and I was really sad for the little girl in the movie. I have seen it more than once and i have cried every time at the end lol
