I hate to ask because I don't want to drive more traffic to them, but has anyone else watched the trailer for "battleship" (liam neeson and others) and Steel something or orther, (Hugh jackman) based on rock'em sockem robots... just whhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyy

That robot boxing movie looks totally awful... and this is coming from a guy who like science fiction. Thankfully, I haven't seen anything more than a teaser for Battleship.

Anyone get to Cowboys and Aliens yet? I'll probably end up going regardless, but wanted to see what the peanut gallery thought...

Oh god it looks like a shit taco.

Why would Hugh Jackman put his name on this? Looking for a payday? This shit will be a bust and is probably 10 years too late. Maybe while that robot war crap was popular this movie would probably have some hope of making a dollar. I can't see it being a success.

Battleship looks Special person also. Sorry I am already tired out of alien/robot vs military theme. Navy gives it a different twist but it will be the same poor story lines and lame character writing that I have seen a zillion times. Thought it was going to be an actual war story (which I wouldn't mind seeing being Navy related) until I saw that stupid ass alien robot shit pop out of the water during the trailer.

**** you Hollywood.

yeah that shit looks stupid. Hugh Jackman should just stick to milking Wolverine.

On another note I loved Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

It was good. You were really pulling for Caesar at the end. Also the Mars mission set up a nice sequel.

I know you like those a lot. I wish I could say I'm excited that there is supposed to be a fourth Austin Powers movie. Unfortunately the third one sucked way hard.

Went to Captain America, Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Actually I'd say it we better than expected and probably even a good movie. The Stan Lee cameo's have to end though. It's just getting bad. Mallrat's = good, Marvel cameos bad.

Rented The Lincoln Lawyer this weekend. It was decent, worth the $1 + tax Redbox fee.

It was good because it stayed true to what it was, Captain America. Didn't have to be deep, didn't have to care or feel sorry for the villain. Didn't try to be all dharrrk and edgy like the new Spiderman movie is, it just was what it was, a burst of fun escapism. Evans did a great job and Hugo Weaving was perfect as the Red Skull.

Agree 100%, for some reason his voice and inflection really was a big plus for me with Captain America, he sounded kind of like I imagined when I read them.

Saw The Change-up... funnier than I had anticipated. Reynolds, Bateman, and Mann all are great in it.

Captain america was a ton better than I expected. I thought it looked stupid by the previews, and was thoroughly surprised.

Icarus was the name of the Space Ship in the Heston original, so either they threw that in as an easter egg or are absolutely planning a sequel (which would essentially be a remake of the original).

I also must be one of the few who thought the Marky Mark remake was pretty good too. Tim Roth was awesome in that one.

The wife and I got a chance to see this last night, finally. I thought it was a lot of fun. I can't believe how they chose to do the skinny Steve scenes. They took his life sized body and modified it through CGI to 'shrink' him, then replaced all the background with 100% CGI to replace what they erased. That is crazy. No wonder it took over 1000 artists for the whole project.

I really liked the iconography and the costumes that everyone wore. From Captain America's first mission, to his Stark improved suit, all the way through Dum Dum Doogan's derby hat, to the Hydra guys.

I honestly thought Red Skulls was the best. It was exactly what I had hoped it would look like. Not cheesy or anything at all, a good color, strong, dark and evil with out being overly grotesque. The physical characters of the movie were done very well.

I watched "Blood Into Wine" a doc film about Mayndard James Keenan's current journey into the world of wine making and co-ownership of a winery in Arizona with Erik Glomski (who is interesting in his own rights).

While not the most mind blowing doc film it was interesting and entertaining on a few levels. If you are a wine lover it's actually pretty interesting esp seeing the early growth and challenges of wine making in the Arizona location. If you are a Maynard fan...sort of interesting to see this side of him and we all know Maynard is not someone you get a long interview with about much of anything. He does open up a little in this film about his other passion..and shit he is passionate about his wine. The film makers threw in some good humor within the film just to cut what can be some pretty dry subject matter (pun intended).

I am not a huge wine drinker but after watching the film I would love to get my hands on one of Maynards bottle of "Judith" named after his mother.

But yah I liked it overall. Probably would have been a yawner though if I weren't a Maynard fan. But I did come out of it with a bigger appreciation for wine making. Good stuff even though at times it did come off as an hour and a half commercial for the winery in a sense.
