Uptown baby!
Just logged into my Amazon account to check on something and before I could even proceed this ginormous pop-up came up

Dear Customer,

I have big news for Amazon Prime members - we've just signed a deal with FOX to add a broad selection of movies and TV shows to our unlimited instant streaming service later this fall. The new additions from the FOX library include 24, Arrested Development, The X-Files, Ally McBeal, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and - available on digital video for the first time - The Wonder Years. We now have deals with CBS, NBCUniversal, Sony, and Warner Bros, and adding FOX will bring the total tomore than 11,000 movies and TV shows available for unlimited instant streaming.

Since launching earlier this year, we have now doubled the number of titles available in Prime instant videos, and there's still more to come. Prime membership remains $79 a year, and of course features our unlimited free two-day shipping on millions of products. Prime is one of the best values anywhere.

Prime instant videos can be played on more than 300 HDTVs, Blu-ray players, and set-top boxes.

Sweet!

Because I am bitter and vengeful I am no soooo happy Netflix's distribution contract with Starz had be voided because there was a cap on how many streams Netflix users could watch their titles. That it rendered the deal dead before it's origina; end-date of Feb/2012 is sweet justice. One day their streaming titles were there and then "Poof!". . .GONE. Also, thank you Starz for being the streaming distribution arm of some major studios like Sony and Disney. {{kisses}}

All you parents who love the Netflix streaming for your kids keep your eyes on the lookout as Starz has a separate deal with Netflix for their streaming Children's content and that deal has an identical viewer cap clause which can null and void that contract too.

It's a good start for sure, but Amazon Prime is still sorely lacking in title diversity and popularity. Most of the shows are ones that everyone has already seen or old ones. Just not the quality there yet. Besides, they don't give me streaming with my Free Amazon Prime account so **** them! haha. Would love to get to the point where i can drop Netflix for AP.

In an email today Nteflix backtracked on Qwikster but not price increase.

Help

Dear Michael,

It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.

This means no change: one website, one account, one password…in other words, no Qwikster.

While the July price change was necessary, we are now done with price changes.

We're constantly improving our streaming selection. We've recently added hundreds of movies from Paramount, Sony, Universal, Fox, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, MGM and Miramax. Plus, in the last couple of weeks alone, we've added over 3,500 TV episodes from ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, USA, E!, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, ABC Family, Discovery Channel, TLC, SyFy, A&E, History, and PBS.

We value you as a member, and we are committed to making Netflix the best place to get your movies & TV shows.

Respectfully,

The Netflix Team

When I read this I laughed so hard.... Notice at no point did they ever admit they were wrong... again. What a cluster **** of a company now. I wonder if they are still going to add all the features they were going to add to Quitster...

Trailers are designed to get you into the theatre and often have nothing to do the film they're promoting.

It's the second part of my quote that matters.
<

"the trailers often have nothing to do (with) the film they're promoting".

Maybe we see different movies & trailers, because I would not say this is my experience.

Maybe you were using hyperbole to open my childlike eyes to the wily ways of studio executives.

Kidding aside, in my experience, rarely are the trailers so off-base that I would go so far as to say the marketing was a lie. In this case, I felt it was significantly misleading. If it were a normal not-so-truthful in advertising type of situation, I would not have commented.

What films have you walked out of? I walked out of "Hot Rod," really wanted to walk out of "Miami Vice."

I actually kind of liked Hot Rod.

Never walked on a movie at the theater but I've turned off plenty of movies at home. The last one was when I tried to watch Top Secret. I used to find that movie hilarious. This time it was awful. Hadn't seen it in over 10 years, probably closer to 15.

I've never walked out of a theater i don't think but I went and saw The Thing last night and was told that the theater was a little chilly and if it was a problem to come out and get a refund lol and he was right it was pretty chilly in there but i stayed and watched the movie, not too bad either but i've never seen any other versions of the movie so i have nothing to compare it to.

Never walked out. Always figure, I've made the commitment and might-as-well see it through to the end. With Freddy Got Fingered I got really close to leaving though...

NETFLIX stock plummeted today, last I saw it was down from about 110 to 70... dropped 40 points on lower than expected earnings? I don't understand why?

As an 11 year customer and staunch supporter throughout the years, the last 2 have been horrible, and I'm glad to see their bottom line get slapped around a little. Too bad I bet the CEO get's a 40 mil bonus.

Fuckin A right? I swear, certain hollywood starlets, that to me were plain or unremarkable while they were younger, have gotten smokin hot with age, her being one of them, I think I paused the movie to rub one out.

Almost walked out on Tree of Life. Knew nothing about going into the movie and it's not really that it's bad, but it's impressionistic. The first half hour or so was kinda tough to get through, but once I got through that, it was pretty good. Nice visuals.

Cool World. That's it.

I've braved many shitty films, and only one was deemed shitty enough not to finish.

I watched Red State a couple of days ago from Kevin Smith. A very refreshing departure. I felt he borrowed a bit from No Country for Old Men, but the subject matter and the way he presented it was very entertaining. I thought the first half hour (it was only 88 minutes) was very well done, although there were some writing decisions with the plot that I found odd.

The ending when John Goodman is "promoted" is also a very strong point in the film. Kevin Smith is a very talented writer of dialogue, but I feel his execution of plot falls short.
