Punching The Clown

I enjoyed. Dry comedy. From what I understand it's semi-biographical based on Henry Phillips (who is the main character). I enjoyed his songs. The comedy outside the music was decent too, but not quite as good. The acting could be improved, but overall definitely worth a watch.

Good movie. Could have been a great movie, but there was some mediocre acting and directing in some parts. It also felt like much of the story was left out.I have a feeling the book would be fantastic as the story told in the movie is great but incomplete.

I gave it a 3/5 on netflix.

Re-watched X-Men: First Class - I loved the movie but your line here reminded of the one part of it that sucked. She was just awful in that movie.

As I've never seen Mad Men - I didn't want to make a blanket statement like that - but yeah, I mostly agree.
Even if she is standable in Mad Men to me it looks like that is her only charecter and it is basically what carries over to her movies, which makes her very one-dimentional and still horrible.

It's called and based on the Warren Zevon song, "Hit Somebody"

Chicago's very own. Sighs. . .such a pity the way that cancer took him out so quickly. That was amazing when Letterman had him be his sole guest on The Late Show that one episode not long before he passed away---so classy.

His version of "Knocking on Heaven's Door" is still one of the more moving songs I've ever heard... especially when he start saying "open up, open up..." gets me everytime.

I watched Limitless the other day and while it had some pacing issues, I was impressed at how much of a different role for Bradley Cooper it was and how well he did with it.

Anna Friel's role in the movie was a waste of her talent...

It seemed like it was an allegory for drug abuse (which may have been the point)... except that if it was such a warning story, it didn't really have the ending it should have. Another movie where DeNiro has all of 15 minutes of screen time. I'd give it a 3/5... good for Netflix streaming, wouldn't purchase.

Goon is getting some good reviews. Adam Proteau from The Hockey News put it as number 4 in his top 10 list of hockey movies...

Also saw the new Mission Impossible last weekend. If you see it in theater (was actually pretty decent) pay to see it in Imax as the visuals are amazing. When he scales the building in India, you literally feel as if you are there. I was actually quite impressed. The story line itself was alright, nothing to brag about.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Finally Saw Tinker, Tailor, Solder, Spy.

Personally, I liked it, but I don't think many others will. Naturally, like any spy movie, the plotline is a bit twisted so it may be hard to keep up. The pacing is defenitly slow (probably on par with the German film, "The Lives of Others") but it didn't detract from the whole experience. Some good gore in it, and some minor T&A. I personally want to see it again (blu-ray) to see what I missed.

Bonus points given from the wife--they didn't cut corners in the Budapest scenes (probably because the film is British). They spoke good hungarian (not heavily accented), and the details in the scenes actually looked like Budapest, from the actors and clothing, to the street numbers and "look" of the sets. There wasn't corners cut because it was assumed that the audience couldn't tell the difference.

As for how accurate it is in regards to the old late 70's Miniseries (with Sir Alec Guiness) or the bok, I'll have to get back to you on that.

Watched Hot Coffee. Enjoyed it. All 3 cases presented in the film were tragic, and it was an interesting piece on how rights are being eroded away as citizens.

7/10.

We went to Girl with the Dragon Tattoo this weekend. I can say it's a good movie. But I'm still not sure how I feel about it. As was mentioned it was the fastest 2.5 hours I've ever had. So much was left out that I felt underwhelmed, but I feel like that is unjustly critical because of everything they packed into it. It left me wanting more which is a good thing, but it also left me thinking there was no charecter development. The movie was done wonderfully. The imagrey was at times exactly what I pictured when reading the books. The casting was amazing. Really well done, and Fincher outdid himself with the directing. I think if I wouldn't have read the books first I would have been blown away by the movie, but since I knew everythign that was left out, I was left with an unfinished picture and wanting to see and feel some of my favorite things from the book. I honestly am going to have to watch it a few more times to really know how I feel about it. It's a great movie, I just don't can't decide on how great.
