You are forgetting the big budget clones. i.e. when transformers came out there was a B movie that came out called transmorphers (essentially the same premise). They do that alot, they try to capitalize on the popularity of big budget films with similarly titled knockoffs.

At least with the horror movies sometimes you can find a gem.

Very true - perhaps I should have just labeled that one, "general knock-offs." I was actually surprised to see one of the cable stations playing the Trans-morphers movie a while back. I got through about 10 minutes before I changed the channel.

Everyone get a viewing or two of their favorite Christmas movies in this year? I watched the following:

The Ref

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Scrooged

A Christmas Carol (newer one with Jim Carrey)

Night of the Meek (Twilight Zone ep)

Couple South Park, Family Guy and Simpsons eps

A Christmas Story

Only one I missed.. Die Hard... and it's actually my favorite Christmas movie.

Just watched Carnage. Loved it. Kate Winslet and John C. Reilly are amazing and hilarious. Also, mid-afternoon, winter matinees are the stuff dreams are made of.

My sister gave me some stupid, boring porno for XXX-mas (except this one is rated PG so it can't be any good). Clark Kent flies around the planet backwards really really fast again so he can get it on with Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman in 1912 ..and then their ship sinks or something. She said she got it for me as a joke since I have problems sleeping sometimes.

Agreed, it was pretty brutal.

They are two of my favorites. I lurve John C. Reilly... the man can do anything.

Saw Mission Impossible 4 (got overruled as I wanted to see Young Adult). Imagine, if you will, how absurd you anticipate this movie to be, then multiply by infinity. All in all, was reasonably entertaining, but I much prefer other types of action movies to this. We watched some of Back to the Future and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade later in the evening and it felt like cinema verite in contrast. Both are miles more realistic than MI4.

Also saw Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows... and it was good. If you liked the first movie, you'll like the second. The banter with *** subtext is again hilarious between Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, and the dialogue is again quick and witty. Also, there are more trademark Guy Ritchie slow-motion action sequences, with one that has particularly stunning cinematography (in my humble, novice opinion).

Ahahahahahahaha!

Somewhere in Time----your sister is fucking AWESOME! Going with errr. . ."vintage" or ummm "classic" chick flickdom. I admire her snarky moxie. And yes, it should help with your occasional bouts of insomnia.

It's currently playing at two theatres in the Seattle metro area.

I've just ordered the BBC series with Alec Guinness.

The only thing that looks remotely interesting in MI:4 is Simon Pegg and I don't know if I can pay money for this JUST for 15 minutes of screen time.

I'm so behind on my movies - still need to see the Muppets AND Sherlock Holmes.

He's actually in it quite a bit and is very amusing. His presence is what netted my final assessment of "reasonably entertaining". Jeremy Renner was a good part too.

Big fan... loved the show "The Unusuals" and can't wait to see him officially take on the role of Hawkeye in the Avengers movie.

Full release for the movie will be Jan 6 according to a commercial I saw this morning...

Christ, Allah, and Odin I hope so.

Mikita: Believe me, I wish I still lived in that area. If it's not general release, then I'll be waiting for the blu-ray.

I love Portland, KOTL. If my wife wasn't from Washington state (and refuses to live anywhere else), I could easily see myself living there. Olympia has a film society, so if the film doesn't come to one of our megaplexes, it should be here in a few months at the film society (about the same time as the bluray release).

Thanks for the heads-up, Ymono.
