If it was a reeeeeally bad script and they made him suck throat lozenges constantly before and during shooting it might be worth a zero.

I'm watching "The Tree of Life" right now. Visually beautiful movie, but I think marijuana was intended to be used while viewing it.

It was on one of the pay channels the other night. I started it way late into the evening. I liked what I saw, but need to put aside some extra time.

I laughed when I read that theaters had to put up disclaimers, because people weren't "getting" the film.

I'll be honest, I didn't entirely get it either, but at the same time I couldn't devote the attention to it that I needed. I started it while the kids were still up and they were a huge distraction.

By all means, my comment wasn't supposed to make fun of people not getting it-- it's referring to that people went to the film and later demanded their money back because they were expecting a narrative close to the Hollywood paradigm.

That I knew going into it that it was going to be different. I felt compelled to read up on it and it seems a lot of people struggled with the meaning of it or had widely different interpretations.

In all fairness, Crank 1 sucked too. I mean he fucks a girl in public to keep his heart rate up.

Avengers. Best marvel movie to date. and even in my comic collecting days I wasnt even a fan of any of the characters in it.

Perfect blend of action story and comedy. I was amazed how they really infused alot of comedy. It was great. I assure you, you will not be bored through this film and will only do yourself a service by watching it. For me 10/10 I really cant complain about anything. The movie was like 2+ hours and I never once felt like it was dragging.

For having no dialogue as the hulk, the hulk and Tony Stark are the comedic center pieces of the film. They also did a good job of not making any one character seem like the "main" character. Stark probably got the most screen time, but tis literally because hes the most interesting to hear, but you really never get the feeling of a "main character". The group is the main character, I felt they handled that well and gave every character a good piece of the pie, which is probably why it was as long as it was.

Theres a scene with Loki and the Hulk at near the end of the film that will have you bust a gut. the theater was so rife with laughter you couldnt hear dialogue for like the next 5 minutes.

Mark Ruffalo nailed it as Banner. After 3 films, I think they finally found the right guy for the job. He just portrays Banner the right way.

Couldn't have reveiwed it better... totally agree.

Ruffalo was great and it was easily the funniest Marvel movie to-date (purposely and decently)... for me, the scenes with the Hulk were priceless and the one with Loki in particular had me gasping for air because I was laughing so hard.

I just watched The Avengers, I won't spoil anything plot wise but the last scene after the credit roll was awesome!

Speaking of credits, I was totally surprised to see Alexis Denisof and Jenny Agutter named in the cast. Denisof (Wesley Wyndam-Pryce from Buffy/Angel) isn't too surprising since Joss Whedon was the director but Jenny Agutter (Logan's Run, An American Werewolf in London) caught me completely by surprise, no wonder, she's been busy doing other things according to IMDB but I don't think I've seen anything since the Werewolf movie.

Everytime I see or hear that name, I just think of the British show "Coupling"...

Watched "Everything Must Go" on Netflix last night. Depressingly darkly humorous with an unsatisfying ending. Worth a look on Netflix. Had to watch something funny afternoon to imrpvoe my mood so I started "Mouse Hunt", but didn't get to finish it.

I have Everything Must Go on my queue - good to know about the ending, looked like it would be the epitome of dark comedy.

Mouse Hunt was cute... better than I thought it would be.

Just saw the Avengers as well, and it's not only the best Marvel film, it's the best comic book movie ever made. Easily. It's about as good as it gets, and they finally got the Hulk right. I like Nolan's Batman movies, Batman is my favorite comic book hero, by far over the likes of Captain America and Thor,etc.. But he tries to box the character into a real world environment and tries to make him realistic, something that could be seen as feasible. It's just not the right direction for it, not even for a human superhero. This movie is what comic book movies should be, not afraid to be a comic book movie. There is no shame in it, that doesn't mean you have to make it campy or anything, just make a Batman movie, don't try to make a practical Batman movie.

There was a sequence in this movie where Iron Man shot lasers deflecting off of Capt. America's shield, rocketed away and we pan to the Hulk and Thor battling ontop of the giant flying monster thing and Hawkeye sniping people left and right and all I could think of was : COMIC BOOK...UNFOLDING....ON SCREEN... and I never really saw that before then, not on as a huge and continuous scale as it was during most of this movie. There were glimpses of it in Spiderman and Batman Begins and Dark Knight and more notably in Capt. America, but this was on an entirely new level. It was amazing. Like watching Jack Kirby's imagination brought magically to the screen.

Took Joss Whedon to get it right, imagine that. I really really liked it as well..

Watched Colombiana last night for some reason... pass. I hate when they have movies like this that they half-ass every part of it. Throw in a bunch of blood, killing, sex, almost nudity... but it's P-13... so you know... not of it's really there.

If you at least know who the characters are you should love it. I never read them really, the only comics I have from the characters in the film was all the #1 issues they released in the 90's when they re-launched.
