Wasn't this the plan since we drafted him? I can see it happening this year. Mills hasn't looked great. What would you guys think about moving Long to RT and putting DLP/Ola at RG?

I like keeping him on the inside. Better chance of Cutler having a clean pocket to step up into his throws.

Ola played well at LG and yesterday he exceeded expectations at LT, but I dont think it is wise to move Long away from where he has found success. I'd rather just put in Britton at RT.

If/when they move Long it will be in the upcoming offseason to LT and move Bushrod to RT.

Do you really think so? Curious as to why this would be better than the current lineup...

Some of you just refuse to understand the protection schemes/philosophies of Aaron Kromer. Facepalm.
I agree Kromer wants to protect inside out but Long is almost TOO talented and profiles TOO well at OT to keep him at guard. You can find guards to fit Kromers scheme pretty easily.

Kromer wants elite guards. Look at the Saints when they had Evans and Nicks on the inside. They didn't have the $$$ to retain Nicks, but when he left they spent a ton of $$$ on Grubbs.

I think if you can fit protection profile scheme AND have what could be an elite T on one side(Long) with an above average T(Bushrod) on the other you do it. Guards are a dime a dozen in this league. Can anyone name Kromer's guards in NO off the top of their head and where they were drafted at? Elite tackles are still very important and tougher to come by.

You're talking about a 5th rounder in Nicks and a 7th rounder in Jahari Evans. Grubbs was end of the 1st round draft pick. Guards are easier to find in this league than elite tackles. That's my only point. If the Bears think Long is an elite tackle profile you move him there.

I would agree with this but would be curious to see how quickly Long could make this sort of adjustment. I think they'd need some pretty talented Guards to make this transition work but Long certainly has the athleticism and brains for it...

He is a pro bowl guard. Leave him where he is at.

I think that's why you only do it in the offseason or move him to RT late this year at some point of need be. Or even you play him at RT for a year until ('15) then kick him over to LT in '16 when Bushrod will likely be declining.
