Do you mind if I ask what equipment was used - both instrument wise and recording wise?

I don't mind at all. I ain't telling you, but I don't mind you asking.

I kid.

Instrument wise, it is mostly my Epiphone Les Paul Custom, a beauty in silverburst finish, unless otherwise noted on the soundcloud page. For Chug it was my Dean Z-X, as those pick ups just make me want to pinch harmonic all day. For Anymore, it was the Les Paul and a Takamine 12 string acoustic. For the low end, I have a bass, kinda. It is I think a Lotus. I have never really heard of that brand before, but shit, someone left it at my house about 11 years ago, may as well use it. I have never put strings on it, maybe I should.

As for recording, I am using the Line6 TonePort ux1. It has a bunch of amps, cabs, and effects emulators built into it. It makes for fun times playing around with different sounds. For the actual tracking I have Sonor Cakewalk 4. I am soooo not using it to it's fullest capabilities, and I wish I had the patience to learn what it has to offer. I am essentially using it as a 4 or 8 track recorder. It a shame though, as it can do so much more.

No, there is nothing wrong with some depressing music. It can be a cathartic release. So long as you aren't all emo, screamo, whatever. There has to be a little melody somewhere.

Boil those bass strings - you'll be surprised how bright the sound becomes. Downside - it doesn't stay like that for very long.

I played with a bassist who did that. He was on a message board and frequently talked about that and other ways to keep the bass strings in good order. He sweats. Like a mother ******. The strings after 2 hard practices would seriously start rusting. Someone from a bass string company read that and now they send him strings. Free. Damn it.

As the title implies, it needs work. There is a solo, and the levels are wonky. Listen at a respectable level. The solo is louder then everything else. I fucked that one up good.

This one could be a tune, jako. Just finish the rest of it...

BTW - I just acquired a used bass amp (early eighties I think) - been looking for months for a good deal 'cause I'm on a budget.

Picked up a Roland Cube 60 Bass amp for $150. 60 loud amps I should add. Will be good enough for jamming and not get drowned out by the drummer....

Nice rig. 60 watts is very respectable. I wouldn't try to knock it out in a stadium.

The girlfriend actually just bought me a 7 piece drum mic set. Way too nice of her. Now I gotta get some cables and a stand or 2, maybe a mixer. I gotta figure out how to record my drums now and make it sound somewhat decent.

I can't play drums so I don't have that problem. I don't have any drums either except for the keyboard and on the BOSS MR.

Also - saved myself $20 by making my own mic Pop Filter.

Made from the lid of a margarine type container, nylon hose (doubled) and some hanger wire and bits:

It works!

You should always start by reading the Manual!

On another note... will be jamming with some guys I've never played with before. Gonna bring my Roland Bass amp, Ibanez electric and Epiphone bass. Plus the Boss MR for my guitar effects. Wish me luck!

Jako and I actually did an open mic the other night on a fluke... I have some video and as soon as I get it a little more edited, I'll post it up for everyone's terror and/or mockery.

I did, but I have a terrible time comprehending shit I read. I do so much better actually doing it. I am a hands on learner.

I am sure you'll do fine. Those guys have no clue the force of low end you are bringing!

Remember, look vertically at the first row, and thats all you need to know for the channels. Then adjust for the respective instruments. The EQ's are just like a regular amp, they just look intimidating cause its x16, and there all tiny and colored.
