Incredibly desperate co-workers at a high stress job contemplate ways to make more money and keep their jobs, even resorting to criminal activity. The Police do get involved, and it ends poorly for some.
Glengarry Glen Ross
A group of people are shipwrecked on an island with nothing to eat. Eventually they turn to a fungus with consequential effects.
I totally cheated and googled it. Matango:Attack of the Mushroom People a 1963 Japanese horror movie, so I'm okay with having cheated.
You weren't aware of the film? Kind of has a cult following. I have the DVD. It's directed by Ishiro Honda of Godzilla fame. I would have given hints on request. Yea, it kinda does.Looks like Charlie Sheen in that picture.

don't bother; it's scripted.

It gets good reviews, I probably should have held off on cheating.
A group of highly skilled professional thieves match wits with an equally skilled group of cops.
The sound is primo, nice effects (just costume/makeup), good sets, creepy atmosphere. There's a really bad cut (shot edit) just when a mushroom head busts open a door that will leave people shaking their heads, and it knocks things off track a bit. But if one over looks that, film's really a viscerally hitting metaphor for drug addiction (the director said), but really any sort of negative 'throwing in the towel' analogy. It's not a great film, not great character development, but Japanese culture tends to be more reserved. Rather it's a horror genre film and effectively sets in a malaise.Lol I gotta see that
LOL! This would make a great mumblecore film. I read director Steven Soderbergh wanted to do a remake but was unable to reach a deal. I can't imagine why Toho, or whoever, would carry a high price on it. Soderbergh would do it right.don't bother; it's scripted.
No problem. People who watched 'creature feature' TV shows probably saw it, it made it's run there. I was baby sitting the thread just in case it was too obscure. It gets good reviews, I probably should have held off on cheating.
The group of expert cops is throwing me. I'd take a guess at Demolition Man.In Los Angeles.

I remember a trailer for a heist film, like 6 yrs ago, where there's an older fatherly sage heist guy, like Hopkins, Michael Caine or Sutherland, younger guy under his wing, and they're getting onto a boat in some sunny place. But I can't remember the name. I didn't see it. I'd try to google it, but there's just too many films.Nope, that was not a great clue, it is mostly one very sharp cop with family troubles, the rest of the cops are just cops. For the thieves everybody has an expertise but the leader is brilliant and tough.
Here is a useless hint, it's one of my favorite movies of all time. Also a great soundtrack from a director know for great soundtracks.
