Oh shit, my dog died last week as well. He was still young, only 5. He showed no signs of illness and just died in his sleep last Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. We took him to the vet to be cremated. 500 bucks.

He would often have dreams while sleeping and let out these soft whimpers during them. It was the same thing he did this time but the whimper got louder and my wife got up to check on him and started crying saying he was dead. I didn't think he was cause I thought it was just another dream.

Sorry to hear this man, at least he died in his sleep peacefully and not suffering. Sorry to hear about your pooch too Warden.

Really sorry to hear that, did the vet have any explanation?

Said he had a heart attack. The vet's the same that had seen the dog for shots and checkups and what not. There was never an indication there was any trouble with his heart or anything else for that matter.

I'm really sorry to hear this, losing a dog is brutal, losing a young dog is the worst.

I don't mean to be insensitive but this has to be said.

Really?

We lost our puppy not that long ago. 2 months it's been, I guess. He was a Great Dane and only 17 months old. Just was walking/playing in the house one day and collapsed on the floor, dead immediately. Pupils dilated, starting turning blue very quick. It happened in front of my wife and three kids, while I was upstairs sleeping. She's still pretty upset about it. He was very attached to her. Vet didn't know what exactly happened, but it was obviously something catastrophic and fast like heart attack. He had some health problems we were trying to figure out, but nothing that serious. More like allergies or something.

Just got a new male Aussie pup last Monday. Had been reading this thread and think it needs a bump.

15 weeks now. Best puppy ever. Doesn't need to be crated at night and sleeps in his bed through the night. Never whines. Learning everything super quick.

His name is Arlo. Wasn't sold on it, but seems to fit and has grown on me quickly. Was a product of a strict Mennonite family in the Blue Ridge mountain area that has been breading for about 10 years. Had the cows, acres for days, no zippers, and didn't have any electronics.

I'm assuming he was named by the little girls there that were carrying him around like a baby. Had a litter of 10 in June and he was the last one left. All brothers/sisters were the tri/red/merle colors with blue eyes.

He was more plain with brown eyes. My win and their loss :yep:

We need more puppers updates. So... bump bump...

Dudes growing like a weed. Went from 20 to about 36 lbs over the last month. Best dog ever. Won't leave my side no matter what we are doing. Never had a dog that didn't at least want a little alone time.

Not good things to say here, I want to get rid of our dog. My wife cries when I talk about it, but the dog just doesn't learn.
I've already called the shelter and they will take her back.
She won't stay off the couch, chews anything she can get a hold of, peed on the floor this morning...

Sometimes it just isn't the right fit and no amount of training can break them of bad habits. Hard to watch your hard earned money go down the drain with piss everywhere and furniture being torn up. Especially a crap shoot when you take in shelter dogs.

I had a terrible time with a puppy I got from a shelter. She would not stop peeing on the floor no matter what I did, and then she started hopping the 5 foot fence out back. Gave her to a relative with a taller fence and she never had one accident... blew my mind.

Not doing a bad thing by taking her back, as someone else will most likely foster her if not adopted quickly.

Understand your wifes case, mine would most likely do the same, but you can't let the dog run the house. Doesn't work that way. You'll be miserable in the long run.
