The problem with NewEgg is expect absolutely NO customer service. Hope and pray you don't have a problem.

Care to share a horror story or something? I have never, ever had an issue with newegg's customer service. Actually, it's the exact opposite from my experience. Anytime I have had an issue with a purchase, it is taken care of immediately.

You are one of the only people of hundreds I deal with on a daily basis to have that experience. Needle in the hay stack. Most Purchasing Departments I deal with won't deal with them. Even if IT requests it from there they go source it elsewhere. I have been in the field now for about 18 years and amongst the vendor and reseller community that's widely known about New Egg.

It's a great place to get out of touch items most main stream distributors don't carry but that's about all I'd ever recommend them for.

Keep going with what works I guess. They can't compete in any way except price from most of the resellers, distributors, ect... ect...

As far as buying local here, for a tv, I'd probably use ABT. Excellent customer service, they price match, and the service warranty support is amazing. Since TCD isn't local I'd shop around, get the best price I could find, then have someone local match the price. That way it's not out of sight, out of mind.

The warranty need also depends on how much money you are spending on the purchase TCD. I always tell my clients if you are spending 500 don't worry about the extended warranty so much, but if you are spending 1k or over, then start thinking about spending it.

Again, what's the problem with newegg? I've never had an issue with them, and I've purchased tens of thousands of dollars worth of items from them. Both for myself, and for people I build systems for. I've had a couple of DOA items, but that was manufacturer issues, and they replaced them immediately. How can you just come out and make a blanket statement like that and not provide any information about why you feel that way?

You aren't getting any extra customer service on electronics you buy in a store, unless you pay for their "extended warranties". Otherwise, after thirty days, or ninety days, or whatever the store policy is, you're stuck dealing with the manufacturer, just like when you order something online... You go to a store, and you get to deal with all the fuckwits trying to sell you shit you don't want, don't need, or can't afford. They'll also feed you the bullshit about how that "Monster" HDMI cable is SO much better than the $10 one you have, ESPECIALLY for a guy like Stu, who sounds like he doesn't really have a clue.

Btw, in case you missed it, TCD isn't the one looking for a television RK. It is STU...

Eh this is what I do for a living. I'm pretty confident. I'm sure Pez has had good experience with Egghead, and probably some others do to, but they are still around because they make very low margin. Not because they give great service. Usually low margin makes less money to pay for service.

I would not by a TV from them under any circumstances. LOL

I'm not going to argue with you Pez. I'm pretty sure the Customers spending in the Millions per year, know what they are talking about.

In my 18 years of experience in the Field, dealing with many fortune 400 companies, I would not recommend them.

Glad you like them. I'll chalk it up now that I know someone who likes them.

Oh, and Stu, check the back of your Xbox 360 to make sure you have an HDMI connection to begin with. You might not, as older models didn't have one, they just use the cable that comes with it.

Excellent advice RK. Very helpful and backed up by a lot of factual evidence and testimony as to why they suck for CONSUMER purchases.

I've never had an issue with Newegg either and I've had items that were DOA. No problems returning. They also have probably the fastest shipping of any company I've ever used. I often get items UPS Ground 2 days after I order from them. I order on a Monday I have the product by Wednesday.

As far as ordering a TV from them I have no experience, but I order tons of computer products from them.

Well Pez ship about 14 million in PC related products a year. I use Ingram, Tech Data, Synnex, D & H and any number of other distributors. From my experience and customers experience I would not use NewEgg unless it was the last resort and the ONLY place I could get the Customers product from.

If you had great experience good for fucking you. You are the type of customer I'd not deal with and dump in a minute.

Enough of ruining TCD's thread with you once again having to know all there is to know in this world. I'm quite surprised you aren't retired as well. Great advise, keep on trucking.

You're talking about clients spending millions per year versus your everday consumer. Two totally different types of clientel.

Small, hard to get parts is what they are good at. I wouldn't by a TV there.

Shipping works that way from everyone for the most part. Unless your in some rural hard to get to area.

I'm talking about buying a TV there! And in general it's not a place most go too unless it's a last resort, or end user.

And I'm talking about clients anywhere from 80k spend per year to 4-5 million.

Bullshit it does. I order from all over the place for most things I buy. I don't go to malls much. I get most of my purchases on the internet and there's very few companies that ship as fast as Newegg.

As for the original topic, I don't know about buying a TV from them.

I would however recommend Tigerdirect.com for a TV.

huh....Ive never had a problem with new egg ever, when I have had to return things or anything theyve always been prompt and helpful. and Ive built multiple systems. Ive purchased a 22" LG LCD PC monitor thats the closest to a TV ive gotten from them.

On top of that they are always the first place pointed to at the writers of Toms Guide and Toms Hardware to get computer parts unless there is like a ridiculous deal somewhere else and every builder knows Toms, I couldnt imagine them steering consumers the wrong way, especially considering my personal experiences with newegg.

I have a 50" Samsung Plasma sitting up on my wall that I purchased from Newegg in February of last year. The television came in TWO days. Shipping was free, I got all the cables and mounting hardware I needed the same day with the television, and I got the television for $400 cheaper than ANY local store, even after purchasing the cables/hardware. Give me a fucking break. Have you ever personally ordered from Newegg? Do you have any specific complaints to share in regards to problems with Newegg? If not, you're about as helpful as herpes to Stu in this thread.

What do people that buy that much shit have to do with Stu making a SINGLE fucking purchase from them?
