Who gives a shit if he took over for an 0-16 team. Andy Reid took a 2-14 team and made them 11-5. Don't make bad excuses for a shitty head coach. He was for the most part really bad in Detroit.

I think Toub could overcome the bad taste, if millions of dollars are involved.

The question McDaniels needs to answer is can he be a leader of men. He failed miserably at it last time. And you probably don't have to lead much on a team with Tom Brady and BB as head coach.

What if he learned from his past mistakes and is now a better coach/leader because of it?

Why no Todd Haley? Loads of successful experience at OC with 2 different SB teams. HC experience including a winning season in year 2 before he got canned during year 3. He's fiery but this undisciplined team could use it.

As Belichick learned and then changed his philosophy after Cleveland, I think McDaniels learned a lot from his failed stint as HC and even more during the extra time spent with Belichick, who gladly took him back, since.
