I've seen people on other sites saying Pirri can't play because of his size.
Uh, the guy is bigger than Kane. (only by an inch at 6'0" but not some midget like some make him sound.)
Pirri can play.....in one side of the rink.
The knock on Pirri is that he is only looking offense. He is a great passer, as close to Kaner in that skill that the org has, the difference is, well, Kane is elite to the point that his offensive skills make his defensive liabilities not as bad considering the other team has to worry about him every time he is on the ice. Pirri, not so much. From the looks of it, the Hawks brass like their centers to be a bit responsible in their own zone. Pirri worked on his back checking while in the Rock to the point that I don't think he would be this really big pylon in his own zone, especially flanked by Sharp and Hoss.
Make no mistake about it though, when Pirri is on, he can take his game to another level. I think he had a couple six point games last year and had that aura of you know he was gonna do something special when he had the puck on his stick. He has nothing left to prove in the A. I would be all for the Hawks getting Weiss, but Pirri earned his shot. If he does indeed play between Hoss and Sharp, one of them will net 40 next year.
