In a draft that was deep in running back why in God’s name would anybody have signed him before the draft?
He is “somehow“ still a free agent. Yeah, what a shock. of course he’s a free agent before the draft.

Agreed, I also dont know why he would want to sign somewhere only to be 3rd on the depth chart a week later.
Least now he knows if he goes to a place like here its likely he would get a chunk of the carries.
