Exactly, and with Deng covering James, they needed Brewer to handcuff Wade. It wouldn't make sense to get rid of him

Don't know enough about Brooks...if he is projected to be that damn good, Cleveland is taking him. I don't think so....

Bryant was not picked no. 1 overall when he was drafted...He is going to be around anywhere from 15-30 because he went to a small school...if he is around in the 20s the Bulls definitely need to make a trade up to get him.

I think it would be a big mistake to get rid of Brewer, but the hot sauce can go. $5mil for a 3pt specialist with inconsistent attributes everywhere else is highway robbery in this market.

I really wish we can unload Boozer. To me, he is cap problem #1.

Marshon Brooks =/= Kobe Bryant, so let's never make that comparison again
However, if he doesn't get picked at 20, Bulls definitely need him.
I've got a feeling we'll be getting him.

And if we don't get Brooks, I have a feeling that the Bulls brass will draft a couple of trade pieces that Houston or Memphis may be interested in like Jordan Williams or Nikola Vucevic. Both Houston and Memphis could be looking to get bigger and they both have gluts at the shooting guard position. Best case scenario, if we don't get Brooks, we get Mayo from Memphis. The secondary option would be Courtney Lee out of Houston, because they really need size...who knows what will happen, but even a minor upgrade at the 2 spot could push the Bulls over the top.

:pacman:Talking about drafting in a cap thread, then talking about free agents in a draft thread.

Bring the issue to the topic!

Here is the breakdown of the Bulls books for the upcoming seasons:

ShamSports.com: Chicago Bulls salary information

The big ones are Luol Deng (under contract for 3 more years), Carlos Boozer (4 more years) and Joakim Noah (5 more years).

Derrick Rose will get a 5, or 6 year max deal this off-season. Basically unless we trade one of these guys, this will be our core four for the next few seasons.

I personally think we should trade Joakim Noah this off-season if we can land a premiere SG. I really want to get Eric Gordon from the LA Clippers, but he's not worth Noah alone. So maybe we can do a 3-team deal and get Gordon plus an extra draft pick for Noah.

That way we can clear Noah's 5-year $60M off the books, and let Omer Asik start. Omer deserves at least 30 minutes a game. Noah is slated to make $12M next year. There is no way Noah is 6 times the player that Asik is.

New starting lineup:

Omer Asik
Carlos Boozer
Luol Deng
Eric Gordon
Derrick Rose

Asik's superior defense and rotations will better mask Carlos Boozer's defensive inefficiencies. We also get more scoring from the 2-guard position.

I have a feeling we will make a move this offseason. And Noah will only be heading out if a man named Dwight is coming in return. I think Boozer will get shipped (maybe a reunion will DWill in Jersey?), and if the Cavs/Wolves/Pistons deal ever gets done, we will trade away one or two of the Bogans/Brewer/Korver SG group when we sign Rip. I can see realistically our roster looking something like this next season:

PG: Rose/Mack
SG: Hamilton/Brooks
SF: Deng/Korver
PF: Gibson/FA signing or whatever we get if Boozer gets dealt
C: Noah/Asik/Thomas

Having Rip and Taj as starters on this team I think will make a big improvement.

I think its too early to tell where the bulls are. We need to wait and see what the new cba will bring and then we can draw conclusions

It's amazing how everyone is so ready to gut the team that won 62 games after years of sucking ass and first round playoff exits.

Knee jerk much?

The glaring need the Bulls have is at shooting guard. Somehow I fail to understand how gutting the team for Howard addresses this need.

Can someone explain it to me because I'm not seeing it.

I don't think any of it matters because I'm not convinced that Orlando is gonna trade Howard to another Eastern Conference team.

The only way the Bulls can get an all-star is through a trade because there is nothing in the free agent market that excites me. Leandro Barbosa? No thanks. Richardson is solid but he's 30 years old and I'm not sure if he can get the Bulls any closer to a championship than they were this year.

I think the Bulls need to swing a trade with Golden State to get Monta Ellis...that's the guy the Bulls should realistically be trying to get. Question is, can the Bulls get him without having to give up nearly the entire roster?

Monta Ellis...interesting, but I really doubt that GS is going to give him up. Alternatively I'd take Curry from GS as well, but I doubt they're giving him up either. Another thing about Ellis is that he regularly takes like 27+ shots a game. Would he be willing to take far less playing here behind Rose? I'm not sure. He also turns the ball over a ton, but I suppose both that and his shot attempts are a result of how GS runs their offense and his ridiculous MPG average.

Ellis could start alongside Rose, he won't lose playing time and he won't have to shoot a ton either if he has a solid team around him, a luxary he doesn't have with the Warriors but would have with the Bulls. Assuming of course he doesn't want to shoot the hell out of the ball all the time. The turnovers suck but Dwyane Wade has been a turnover machine too throughout his career and he's still a beast.

It's a long shot that the Bulls would get him because they'd have to give up a ton to get him plus I don't know if they'd be willing to take Boozer, Noah, Brewer, Deng and those first round picks.

If GS did take that trade, then the Bulls would have problems at the forward position that they would absolutely have to address in free agency.

Ellis is a beast, and id heard, that Ellis is untouchable. theyd rather get rid of Curry than Ellis.

I'd actually rather have Curry than Ellis. But I know that wouldn't work. Two PGs in Curry and Rose, although Curry could be effective at the 2 as well IMO.

If there are any changes in the cap structuring, they will not be significant. So, what I need to do is run the salary numbers through the formulas. Then compare the available $$ to the FA market so we know which FA's are feasible.

To all: Give me a day or 2 on this b/c it's some real boring shit!.:D
