I get excited when my kids do well in either school or the sports they play. Other than that, I’ve been alive forever, man. I’ve seen it all and done a lot of it over and over and over again. I’m fucking exhausted.

I learned how to be a Bears fanatic from my dad, also Cubs, Hawks, Bulls, and Irish. Back in the 80's my parents retired to Phoenix and my mom tells me they are driving to Vegas on Sunday, I say the Bears are playing on Sunday, don't make dad miss the Bears game, mom says that my dad doesn't really watch the Bears much anymore. I freak out, talk to my dad and he tells me that sports are not a big deal anymore, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I'm 60 now and I really don't care as much as I used to, I still watch games, it just doesn't matter to me. My kid is an adult, I'm about to retire so my career is done, sports are a minor distraction at best, bottom line, I just don't give a ****.

Oh yeah, CCS has turned to complete shit, filled with bland, humorless, limp dicks, or maybe it's me, maybe CCS is still populated with interesting clever guys with compelling points of view and I'm just missing it.

You're 60!? God bless you man, are you the elder here?

Sorry if this is going to come off as rude but this is literally mind-bottling to me and I will never understand it:

How in the **** is he supposed to know if he is the elder if you don't tell him what your age is, and if you know how old you are and it is less years than 60 years old then how in the **** can you not answer the question yourself? Seriously.

Is there anyone else that just doesn't get excited about anything?

I haven't always felt this way. Feels like it's been happening more so as I've gotten older. I just don't look forward to anything, and things I used to be interested in just seem "meh" to me.

Has this happened to anyone else? Or is anyone else like this?

How did you go about getting excited about shit again?

Probably not the best place to ask, but **** it.

Find a way to help others.

If you aren't excited about anything perhaps giving some time back to your community could help you find that spark.

Vash, many of us have been with these same guys since the CBMB so you kinda know who is up there in age. BTW, if I asked him if he was the elder doesn't that automatically insinuate that I'm younger than 60? Come on now.

If you were over 60, it would put a whole new perspective on your hobby.

Isn't omelet like well into his 70's? It seems like even back in CBMB he was like at least 70.
He said he used to go to Wrigley to watch the Bears.

I suppose you're right, he did mention his childhood consisted of playing stick ball with Taco. Stick ball hasn't been a thing in many decades.

I work a job where I am consistently drowning in fires/deliverables and/or bullshit corporate politics.

I get excited for weekends where I am more than 50% sure work won't be bothering me.

Get a job where you are swamped constantly and you will be excited for the simplest shit lol

I actually do have a job where I'm constantly swamped. To the point that it actually spills into my time when I'm not even at work... which is a problem I need to fix haha.

Have you considered the idea of perhaps thinking about getting your testosterone levels checked by a medical professional, because if you are a man which is my guess that you are (sorry if that is a bad assumption) and also in addition to being a man, growing older with age passed maybe 30 or so I think that this might be something worth being analyzed because it is relatively simple to fix. My room-mate has "low t" and it is only because he became a vegan and stopped lifting due to injury from veganism and the low t has resulted in him being depressed and not caring or getting excited about anything these days, like he isn't even interested in taco Tuesdays for example, which used to be his favourite day of the week, and when the Christmas edition of fortnite came out he didn't care at all but probably would have been literally over the moon in the days when his glands were making enough testosterone.

hahahahahahahaah

Well, I'm 26, and I think my "t" is fine. But yeah, vegan related injuries are the worst.

For me at least it is health issues. That and lack of money to do much.

That's weird, because I feel like the start of my.... lack of excitement kind of started when I was diagnosed with some autoimmune issues a few years ago. After that, most things just didn't seem to matter much to me. The way I thought of things was like, "Yeah, this vacation is coming up, but I still have this disease which can make me feel shitty, so who cares?" It's almost like I can't enjoy the little things, because what really matters is all fucked up. Probably not the healthiest way to think, I know that.... but it's hard for me to think otherwise.

Is it kind of the same for you?

I am old enough to actually have told kids to get off of my lawn last summer. It felt great. 10/10 will yell again.

I feel like I've told you this before, but I never would have thought you were 60. Some people, by the way they type/speak, they sound old. But with your outlook on a lot of things and the way you type, I pictured you to be much younger. And I'm not saying that as a bad thing btw hahaha.

I want to ask you what you were diagnosed with, if it's not too personal. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis at a similar age to you. It crushed me for a bit, because doctors were telling me that my spine may be fused by the time I am 50. And I was a very active person. Well, I'm 50 now, still active, and have zero fusion in my spine.

Moving on, making plans are always better than constantly reminding your self of the bum deal you got.

Obviously I don't know you personally, Spartan... but over the years, I've noticed a consistent pattern in your posts about the way you talk about your kids, and you seem to be a really good dad. Just thought I'd share.
