Your not understanding Denver. After trading Melo, they are going to rebuild. Its amazing that they are even considering Noah and Deng, Melo and his team are really forcing their hand. They wouldn't take Devin Harris, an allstar, because they are concerned about his 27 mill left, Deng has double. Denver wants an expiring, a very good propect and picks. NJ's hold up is Melo. Someone will find a 3 way to get them expirings or NY will find a way to get some picks to send to Denver. Its not over.

I see what you're saying... but maybe they will just re-build by letting Nene, Smith, and Kenyon Martin walk in free-agency.

Or maybe the Bulls and Nuggets can find a 3rd team and SAC can receive Deng, and DEN would receive Dalembert (expiring). You never know...

Sacremento doesn't want Deng. They have too many sfs now. No one really wants Deng, his deal is too bloated and he is too injury prone. Not saying he is worthless to us but his value around the league is a net negative.

by rebuilding by letting nene smith martin walk this summer seems like a scenario in which denver would be trading anthony to do him a favor rather than getting assets back in return. In which case, they might as well let him walk in free agency instead. Why help melo and a competitor while getting nothing in return?

plus denver could hold on to melo, and fill their seats in order to drain the cash cow, melo of all his worth before sending him packing. If i wasn't getting any talent in return other than JJ, taj, and compete and utter crap in terms of draft picks; i mght be inclined to fill a few seats instead.

I'm trying to figure out if it is funny or sad that nobody wants Luol Deng - the guy once promised to be a superstar.

People undervalue him due to his contract. However, compared to Anthony, there is no reason at all to want him. He is a good player though, I have felt that he was the best player on the best team the Bulls have had in the post-Jordan era. That said, his contract is an albatross that inhibits a lot of what the Bulls could have done and are trying to do.

People don't want to touch him because he is not worth his contract. The Chicago fan base was sold this pie in the sky fantasy that he would be the next superstar. He got superstar money. He has failed to deliver on that.

His abilities and his contract are the one in the same when making trades in the NBA. There is no reason to include his contract when talking about his trade value.

Who sold the Chicago fan base "this pie"? The Chicago fans believed what they wanted to believe, their naiveté can't be blamed on Deng or the Bulls, it is their own faults collectively. I never thought he would be a superstar, I never believed ANY of those players at that time would be superstars...

6/71 is not superstar money. He is overpaid.
