I just don't get the David Ross argument, but could enlighten me on why we want an in-experienced leading the club?

Well, first, you just had all the experience in the world inable to manage this club.
Second, what other choice do you have? Matheny? Hurdle? Sciossa? give me a break.

Ross does not need to earn respect from any of this core, they have it. Its not the grandpa who let people get away with shit or would rather party all night.

Idk why anyone would want that. Clearly having an inexperienced manager has failed the Red Sox, Yankees, and dodgers...

Sitting in the broadcast chair is not the same as working in front offices as Dave Roberts did for years in the Pads org.

Sure you have to start somewhere and you have to have the right mentality for the job but even Joe worked with LAA for years learning the other side of the coin before his first manager job.

Aaron Boone with zero experience has won 100 games in his only two seasons....a .627 winning %.

Managing experience is highly overrated.....anyone can manage by baseball's "book" and be successful with the right players.

Being a communicator is the #1 thing required these days....hire some good coaches and Ross will be fine.

Oh and BTW.....the guy Boone replaced was Joe Girardi.

IMO Ross would have to be 100% commited to on the field activities vs part time gigs for his kids sake. I get it he is a dad first. And that is great for his personal needs. But we are talking about running a 180M unit and that takes 110% attention.

Boone did a great job. Had 8 years in the booth with ESPN doing analysis. He was involved with the sport and he had a father that had walked the same path.

Sure it could happen but I doubt that Ross is 100% commited to it.

Lol I like that like 3 posts above this you say sitting in the booth isn’t the same as coaching experience when referencing Ross, but then here you mention Boone having 8 years in the booth as a positive.

Ross doesn't have 8 years in the booth.

And having a father that played and managed. Brother played also. Is a 3rd generation athelete.

So it is not the same thing at all. Boone was born into baseball. When it is a part of your life as a child you really know nothing else. He has been immersed in the ongoings for a long time now.

Ross played. Seems like the right fit. But he has little personal exposure to having the weight of 25 guys and a 5mil strong fan base watching your every move.

This isnt Twitter, seriously, you can wait to post a reply, just be patient with yourself, get all your thoughts together and write a few paragraphs so we can just pass it by.

Ross = Theo wants an easy transition to keep his core together. That comes before winning.

Giradi = it is not about the players or the Chubby Cubby fan boi opinion. It is about having a experienced leader that has ran a team in a large market and knows what to expect from a fickle fan base.

Another question but would you offer Schwarber a long term contact considering how he seems to be getting better?
He's still bad against lefties but will he get better as well?

I would love to see his 2nd half number versus LHP. If he had 50 PA with 12 hits and 5 BB that would be a good increase, albeit a small sample size. But if they could lock him up in a deal that had an AAV in the 17 M range, I think he'd be worth it.

  • Kris Bryant – $18.5MM had better numbers for a while than his MVP season
  • Addison Russell – $5.1MM 2 million dollar raise for spending 1/2 the year in AAA and suspended?
  • Javier Baez – $9.3MM let MLB in opposite field power numbers, .360 anytime he hit a fair ball. 6/100 anyone?
  • Kyle Schwarber – $8.0MM would have had 40 b0mbs
  • Willson Contreras – $4.5MM back to back all star game starts
  • Albert Almora – $1.8MM this is TRIPLE his last salary
  • Kyle Ryan – $1.1MM probably our best LOOGY last year.
They need to let Russell and Almora go to the arbitrator this year or settle for 4 and 1.

Russell just needs to be moved.

Bryant I believe gets traded. 18M is Rich.

Russell needs a DFA
Baez needs to extent. 8 year 200M
Schwarber extend 8 year 160M
Contreras sit on.
Almora trade. They need to trade for a every day CF and move away from non production.
Ryan. Not really a LOOGY. He was a starter and makes a great 2 inning arm also. I believe the LOOGY era is over and the focus will become 2 inning arms.
