Can anyone please explain why Frazier other than he's a former Bear?

He really hasn't done much since he was canned in Minny, where he had a strong roster.

You can point as DC in Buf, but they weren't terrible when he arrived. Seems like a great DC that shouldn't be handed the reigns again

Bears fans are meatballs. Everyone wants former Bears players to be HC and GM, especially if they played for the 85 Bears.

We've been through this so many times, and it's so tough because each situation is different, a guy who would succeed in one place and time won't in another. That bullshit out of the way:
1. Hire the GM first and let him decide. 1. Rick Smith 2. Fine with Dodds 3. Ran Carthon 4. Joe Schoen

For coaches, I like Flores because he got good results with mediocre talent. Needs a good OC, without that I'm not sure. Would Kevin O'Connell leave LAR to prove his mettle outside the nest? I think he would. Good young OC who has worked in several systems and if he likes Field would be a great chance to set himself well.

Greg Roman. Roman doesn't just run - he is one of the best at setting up the pass with the threat of the run. Whatever Fields turns into, he's going to start as a player who succeeds in that mold imo. Bring in Fangio, that is a good group.

Hackett is intriguing as is Eberflus (would not surprise me at all if he is the pick is Dodds is GM). Daboll would be meh but acceptable.

There just aren't a lot of slam dunk names out there this cycle. I would put Kevin O'Connell as a dark horse. I thought Matt Lafleur would get a shot in 2018 and I had him as one guy the Bears should look at (I think I ultimately had him going Giants maybe). I think O'Connell can be that type of guy in the right situations.

Frazier doesn't get me excited, but that wouldn't necessarily disqualify him from being the right man for the job. You're hoping he's a modern-day Lovie Smith if he gets the job. Remember how much the players loved him.

I've got to believe that a guy with an offensive background is going to get the job though. A likely centerpiece of interviews will be Justin Fields and how you get the most of out him considering his skillset. An offensive coach is going to be able to knock your socks off there more than a defensive guys, presumably.

I mean, McDaniels.

My guess is there is an agreement for McDaniels to wait for season or even heir apparent to Belly.

Otherwise he seems like that guy.

I’m a Lewis Riddick fan, and think he could GM if he has someone really smart tactically around experienced in NFL systems.

I just want compensatory draft picks every year because it’s a contractual issue, not the cycle of success people tell me it is.

all it takes is timing, thought and planning to control purchase and release timing.
Pace is gone primarily because he couldn’t shopping cart his way out of 5 picks per year.

Does anyone know what Philly's run game looked like under Pederson? Wasn't it bottom of the league? I also am not a fan of him deliberately losing the last game of the season when he was coaching. Remember him benching Hurts? That's all taking your ball and going home type of foolishness. That's not a "Leader of men" leadership trait. Heck, that's not even a "Leader of kids" quality.....

Hard pass on coaches who quit and lose the locker room in doing so.

Eagles players were "shocked" and "outraged" by head coach Doug Pederson's decision to bench Jalen Hurts in Week 17 against Washington.

Two defensive players had to be held back from approaching Pederson after the QB change. Hurts was reportedly distraught about the decision to yank him in favor of Nate Sudfeld with the team trialing Washington by three points. The Eagles lost 20-14. Pederson defended the decision to bench Hurts so Sudfeld could get some playing time in a meaningless Week 17 game. He revised his reasoning the following day and rambled about offensive struggles with Hurts under center. Miles Sanders expressed frustration with Pederson's decision in a Tuesday interview. "If I'm being honest, nobody liked the decision. Nobody," he said. Having alienated his players at the tail end of a disastrous season, it's reasonable to question whether the team can bring Pederson back in 2021. Unless, of course, Pederson was told to lose the game. The Eagles have the sixth pick in the 2021 NFL draft; They would have selected ninth if they had beaten Washington.

Don’t like Pederson or Frazier. The more I hear about Flores the less I like him. Depends on the GM, who they get as coordinators. There are a lot of different possibilities. I don’t really know, but the only thing I am pretty sure of is that if there is a way to fuck this up, McCaskey will.

Be careful what you say... As we saw, myself and many others were happy with Nagy hire. I'm not going to act like I know all about the candidates. I want the Bears to make the correct choice. I feel nothing will change until people with football knowledge run this franchise, though

They were 27th in defensive DVOA in 2016. Since then they have been 18th, 2nd, 7th, 12th and 1st. That is a pretty good track record of improvement.

Certainly not my first or 2nd choice but he is not a bad candidate. Just a boring one.

And Bruce Arians was the head coach. It was the same situation as Nagy with Andy Reid we need to try and avoid going forward

Leftwich also didn't "take over" the offense until 2020 the year Brady got there.

That's why if there are any of these first time OC's we need to take a shot on its Brian Daboll. He's the offensive mastermind there - there's no Bruce Arians or Andy Reid watching over his shoulder making sure everything goes okay. We know for sure he developed Josh Allen and he's called every play on an elite offense there for a few years.

Difference is Leftwich has been calling plays the whole time. Nagy was not.

Still under Arians which I think was the point. Personally, I don't know how to feel about some of these hires. Can they do it out of the shadow of their HCs? Can they lead? Can the teach? Can they help their coordinators in all 3 phases? Can they manage a game?

He called plays though.

I’d be careful about Leftwich. Tom Brady is the OC in Tampa Bay.

Ariens> Brady>Leftwich.

All offensive guys. Supposedly it was the chunk of Brady’s offense combined with what they had going on that put them over the top.

I’m in favor of hiring the GM and letting him hire the coach

He’s not my first choice but I didn’t see Desai on that list, I personally think that would be a better hire than Brandon Staley.

not my first choice, my first choice is Flores, and then Leftwich.

I would personally be very upset with Pederson and any college coach that isn’t Harbaugh
