Of the 9 named HC candidates is there anyone you'd hate?

I just can’t wrap my head around Arians talking up Leftwich like he is. I mean, has another HC ever talked up their assistants for promotions before? Even if that HC knew they were unqualified or not ready yet??

He’s been an OC longer than McVay was and he played in the league for years.

Doesn’t matter, he’ll probably go to the Jaguars.

McVay had 9 years of coaching experience when he was hired, and he's kind of an outlier anyways. The only comparable head coach I can think of is Vrabel. Think he had 7 years experience.

Again, I wouldn't hate the hire. Just compared to the other candidates his resume is...sparse.

Leftwich has more NFL coaching experience than Vrabel did. Vrabel did have a couple extra years at OSU as a position coach. He’s an excellent comparison though.

But...isn't that exactly what everyone complained about with Nagy? Offensive coordinators should fit the scheme to the players? So at some point isn't it on the o.c. to adjust and say obviously Winston can't execute these plays without turning it over and adjust accordingly?
Typically yes, but it’s also Bruce Arians and his offense. I think it’s safe to say he doesn’t adjust for anyone. He runs his scheme no matter the outcome. He’s had success and is very respected.

He called them in 2019.

“Leftwich resurfaced as the offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay, reuniting with Bruce Arians. Since 2020, Leftwich has been the primary play-caller for a formidable Buccaneers offense.”

Baba, can you post something that Says BL was the primary or main or only play caller for 2019? If so I’d be more interested in him

Fuck a head coach. Let's go get two coordinators and let the special teams guy manage the team.

Toub ftw.

Except for the 99% here who have expressly said they don't want him.
I don’t have the bias. I didn’t even know he was a former Bear until recently. And I think he would be a good choice for HC.

So perhaps the bias is opposite of what you think…

I'm not the one who mentioned the bias. I'm the one who said Bears fans are not loving the idea of Frazier being HC.

Bears fans on CCS are not very representative of bears fans, believe it or not. Chicago fans in general are incredibly stupid and complete meatballs.

“I can’t say enough about the job [Byron Leftwich] has done; I mean, it’s just remarkable,” Arians told The Rich Eisen Show today

“I mean, people give me way too much credit because I don’t do shit, really. He does it all.”
Pretty sure Andy Reid said something eerily similar about Nagy.

Don't those two sentences contradict one another? :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness, I certainly believe there are a lot of fans who want former players as coaches in general. (Hell, I see the same at the college level and in other sports, more often than not calling for a guy with zero coaching experience).

But specific to Frzier, are Bears fans actually behind this idea? I guess I just assumed everyone knew it was a bad idea because he already coached and failed in our own division, is a generation past his prime, and is on the D side of the ball.

A swing and a miss shouldn’t stop one from getting into the batter’s box.

Also Leftwich has more experience as a play caller, was a former QB coach, and was a former NFL quarterback. Don’t see how the two are similar

He would get the most out of Fields

I heard somewhere that he has a couple years on his contract left? So he may just spend the year on a beach somewhere gettin paid still.
Curious, if he takes a job, does he still get paid from the Broncos? I’m assuming yes since he has a contract with them. Unless there is a clause for that.

Ok I found that BL did call plays in 2019. Good. So three years of actually doing it and two with the GOAT and what he brings and does. Struggled a bit in 2020 but figured it out and won the SB. Vs Nagy for a half a season.

Hue Jackson
Steve Spagnuolo
Pat Shurmur
Mike Mularkey

Just to name a few

I looked up Hue Jackson and he was 8-8 in his one year at Oakland, so I don't think he fits the category.
Steve spagnuolo second stint was end of season replacement for 4 games. Not in this category.
Mike Mularkey took over in his first season in Tenn half way through and then went 9-7 in the final 2 years. Not in this category.
Shurmur was crap in both his jobs, Right on!
