Leddy has to stay...period. Bickell will not pull a Buff and decide to play hard when he feels like it. He's now had a taste of what effort gets him. A true Power Forward is rare, especially one with speed and a Cannon. He too must stay. Kruger & Frolik need to stay. I see a decent upside in points for both next year...not to mention the PK goodness.

I'm torn on Bolly. If the cap were at 70 Mil., there would be no problem, but business is business.

I'm curious as to the possibility of a 2-3-year contract with lowball 1st year. Would that be considered circumventing the cap?

Rozsival - No idea

Kruger - He stays aint going to cost much and can easily do Bolly's old job of 3rd line C

Leddy - Aint going anywhere unless someone throws an offer sheet at him but I think stan will get him for around 2 mil a year.

Stalberg - Dont see him staying since he seems to have pissed Q off

Bickell - I think he's out the door going to want a big pay day

Emery - I can see him staying another year or going. They might want Ranta to play a year in the AHL to get used to North American ice.

Handzus - No idea

Frolik - Think he is gone, cap hit too high for too little

Bolland - I am a bolly fan and even I think it is time for him to go. He got hit with the injury bug and never really developed. A shame but nonetheless he was paid on potential and never reached it.

Monty - Bought out

Olesz - Bought out

I know that we're currently. 2 million under the 64 million dollar cap but, to all of the capologists out there what kind of cap space will we have if we let the following guys go?:

Stalberg

Emery

Handzus

Mayers

Bolland (trade)

Montador (buyout)

Olesz (buyout)

Assuming that some of these guys will be replaced by younger guys from the minors whose salaries will also count against the cap, it looks to me like we should be able to keep Bicks, Leddy, Rozsival and a guy like Frodo no problem.

Is there anyone out there who can hypothetically crunch the numbers?

Montedor and Olesz free you up 5 mil this year and 2.75 next as Montedor has two years left.

If you trade Bolland that free's up another 3.75 this year. Those three alone would open up 8 mil this year.

Remember two years down the road 88 and 19 are going to require 3 mil more per player.

If Zus really has a torn ACL he will be sitting the majority of next season. Somebody might make an offer around trade deadline if he doesn't retire.

Yeah...but neither Olesz or Monty were on the books this year

So they'd really only be freeing Bolland...3.375....then Stalberg at 875K so far

It's why I think moving Frolik's 2.33mil as well would be a good idea

Smith (560k) and one of Hayes/Pirri/Leblanc/Morin (870K ea) could be up there

Moving Bolland/Frolik...and Stalberg loss frees up 6.5mil

Yeah Frolik and Bolland's problem is they dont produce enough to warrant the money. I like both players, hell I'm a Bolland fan but the time has come.

So to free up money to sign Bickell , they almost have to trade Bolland which would bring us possibly a player nobody wants plus that players cap hit. Also they would possibly have to add a prospect to any potential Bolland trade.

Bowman has already come out and said Montador and Olesz will be bought out (if not claimed off waivers)

Edit: And other teams are confirming that the Hawks are shopping Bolland around.

I'm cool with both of these moves.

According to John Jaeckel at Hockey Buzz, The Hawks are actively shopping Leddy for a draft pick (possibly to Edmonton).

They're also aggressively shopping Bolland as well. The ability to deal Bolly directly affects negotiations with Bickell says Jaeckel.

Wouldn' t the Hox be happy if someone gave a 4th or 5th round pick for the rat?

The problem is his salary is high and his track record when it comes to staying on the ice due to injuries isn't good.

It's going to be tough to deal Bolland because of that IMO which will mean that Bickell is gone. Bickell leaving would hurt this fan because I REALLY want to Hawks to bring him back.

And.....there's your first problem

That guy is an idiot. That dipshit thinks fat ass Byfuglien is better/more valuable than Kane. He would let Byfuglien mount him at any chance

He claims to have inside information - but constantly wrong/doesn't know what the **** he's talking about

As far as Bickell...of course the Hawks want him back - but not at any/all cost

2yrs ago...people here wanted him waived. Now...it's pay him anything to keep him

There's a medium in there, and Stan knows this. He's not going to go over what the Hawks can/want to pay him - which is responsible/the correct way to keep a team strong in the cap era

I definitely take anything on Hockey Buzz with a grain of salt.

The Leddy rumors particularly.

With the Bolland/Bickell rumors, it isn't just coming from him so when it comes to that, where there's smoke there's fire.

John Jackhole has consistently shown he knows less than a football about hockey.
