Now is the time to start moving up this prospect depth we've been building.

Pirri I would have to believe is going to get every shot to be our 2nd line C next season.

Olsen and Clendening will be given a chance to make the roster.

Morin, Smith and Hayes will be given a chance as depth players or someone who can step into a spot in the top 6.

Maybe McNeil or Dandault comes into camp trying to make the roster.

Which is why I don't think Bickell is as important as any of those 3 guys. Yeah you can take a chance and sign some cheaper guys or play some rookies in an attempt to replicate what Kruger and Frolik did, or you can stick with what you know worked in an aspect of the game in which was one of the team's biggest strengths in the regular season and postseason and maybe lose Bickell because of it. I'll take that over the alternative. I'd rather have them take their chances on a player like Pirri centering Sharp Hossa/Kane rather than have to come up with a new 1st PK unit.

The Hawks cant afford to lose Kruger OR Frolik on the PK.

The AHL is filled with guys who can kill penalties. If that was their only value to this team (which it's not) they wouldn't be playing in the NHL.

I still believe on any other team that wasn't as stacked as the Hawks are, Frolik would be a top 6 forward. Kruger, is also still coming into his own, and could possibly be our 2nd line center next year.

At the NHL level, your high.

Bickell when he plays his game, is invaluable to any team. Unfortunately or Fortunately for the Hawks the consistency in that game just started showing up this year.

Power, two way forward, with a good shot, and can skate with all star players on his line and benefit their game. His biggest issue is the development of that game and consistency in that game.

If he stays for 4-5 years at 3.5 it's a no brainer as there are ZERO forwards in our system with that size and tangible. More than that, I seriously think of future $$, although no question, by the record revenue, in a locked out season, the Cap is again going UP next year.

More or less an opinion I guess. But typically its your 3rd/4th liners who see a lot of PK.

I don't know how much Ice Hogs hockey you watch but there are ZERO forwards in our system that play the PK like those two. Lord knows they were ALWAYS on it this year in Rockford, IE most penalized team in the AHL.

That said Kruger is a Center, another reason he doesn't go anywhere. Frolik, if the $$ is right I try to keep this team in tact as much as I can. They didn't win the Presidents Trophy, Division, Western Conference, Stanley Cup by Fluke...

How much PK time did JT see? I think you have the best players out there doing it, no matter what line they skate on.

I would bet that Pirri, Morin and Smith could all kill penalties as well.

Regardless, no way you let Kruger at 23 just slip away. Kid hasn't even touched his prime.

I bet they can all do it but at the level of those two. It's not a fluke the PK was at the top of the league all season either.

Like I said If I'm the GM I try to keep it as intact, with minimal moves as I can. And seeing how we are in pretty good shape, cap wise (especially if they deal Bolland) I don't see it being a problem.

Let's see if Stan does something before or during the draft tomorrow to get us a 2nd and 3rd round pick and if Beach, Morin, Smith or any of the "prospects" are used in that. Or maybe even Bolland.

That's still a cup team IMO

I wonder if it would be worthwhile to look at Tyler Seigin, Boston is going to move him. He's young and a pretty good center but they have to be moving him for a reason. Horton has decided to test the free agent waters too, but he's seriously banged up. We should focus on keeping as much of our team as possible before anything else I think.

Seguin has a price tag of $5.75M until 18-19. Who would you move to accommodate him? I think the wisest choice would to keep adding cheapish role players around the core along with the prospects. Once Kane & Toews are locked up to longer contracts after 14-15, then maybe look into adding bigger fish, if needed. But again, maybe it's not needed. The way Bowman has managed and built this team seems to be working quite well.

Ya know I have to admit I dont think Corey is going to be kept after his contract ends, think he'll just be too expensive.

I get the feeling they might use Bolland to get some of 2nd's and 3rd's to keep building the farm.

Kruger is more than capable to step into Bolland's role and at times this year our best line was Sharp/Kruger/Kane.

yea I would agree with that. We''ll know soon and no way does Stan not make a play for some early picks here.

Yes it will go up but will it go up fast enough not to lose Hammer or Saad or Crawford because even if it the cap goes up to 71 to 72m by summer of 2015 when T & K are due, it will not be enough to keep all 3 of the names I listed or it will be extremely tough to keep all 3.
