Thing is TCD, he has 8 teams he will accept a trade to, and the 'hawks have 45 days to trade him to one of those teams.

Now, if Campbell was going to be a bastard, he could just signify 8 teams out east that would NEVER be able to afford him or his services, or clear cap to do so.

8 teams he will accept a trade to but do those 8 teams give a shit about him? That's the real question. I would love to know those 8 teams. I would assume one would be Buffalo where he started his career and from what I remember was fairly well liked there. New ownership in Buffalo might see fit to bring him back in the fold? Hard to say. I think he would be a good fit back in Buffalo right now. Lots of cap space in Buffalo with a lot of UFA's and RFA's to re-sign and a year before Myers will be getting a nice raise. He fits there if they would want him back into the fold and if it is on the list of his teams.

But then again the Sabres do have to resign Drew Stafford. They would be idiots not to. He is RFA and is fairly big bodied forward with hands that I would love to see as a Hawk. RW though...but still. Stafford reminds me of Ladd in a lot of ways..he would be great with Bolland. But that's not going to happen. Stafford is going to get a nice offer from the Sabres. May cut into their abilities to want a guy like Campbell. They do have a lot of cap room but also a lot of roster spots to fill.

Buffalo also has a nice center that they have to r-sign in Tim Connolly. Another guy that would fit well with the Hawks. UFA. Don't think the Sabres will let him test the market too much but his agent sure will.

I actually felt my brain cells committing mass suicide as I read it.

But yet you had to share with the rest of the class. Might I suggest a username change to JimJoneshinaya.

A year ago, Sabre fans wanted to run Stafford out of town. Words associated with Stafford were lazy, soft, and uninterested. He's a UND player that is not close to other Sioux alum as Parise, Zajac, and Towes. Look at his stats. He performed in a contract year. Would not touch him.

No to Stafford. Still remeber his cheap shoulder/elbow to jaw blind hit on Keith 2 years back. **** him.

Forgot about that hit. Yah **** him. Good points also Larmer. I don`t usually buy into performing better on contract years though. Might be the ignorance in me or just wanting to believe pro hockey players have a little bit more self pride and dignity than other pro sport figures. Do I think it happens. Sure...just don`t think it`s as rampid as others do.

What about a guy like Tim Connolly as depth center help...that is if the team can find room to sign him.

He would've gotten 5 games if that happened this year. Wouldn't mind him on the Hawks though.

I see people penciling Konopka in their lineups all over the place. Now, I get the need for some toughness and guys that can win faceoffs, but besides being a center, what makes Konopka that different from 2007-08 Adam Burish? Remember him? Consistently couldn't score and took so many dumb penalties you lost count. Probably one of the worst players in the league that year. In the last two seasons, Konopka has been in the penalty box for 572 minutes, numbers that dwarf anything Burish did.

To round things out, Konopka has a grand total of four goals in the last two seasons. That's Ryan Johnson level of awful offensively. Even the much-maligned Jake Dowell had six goals and 21 points last year.

I don't see the appeal either with Konopka. The fourth line needs to be a player that will play smart, win face/offs, do spot duty on the third line in a pinch and be a good PKer, Konopka is none of those things. One goon is enough on this team. Yes, some sandpaper is needed but they should also be able to play and not be a detriment to the team.

Actually, the only thing you could really say he's not, is smart... I want him because I'm sick of these jackass fourth liners.
