Too bad DMelt and HawkWriter drove Capt. Serious off the board. Would have loved to hear his take on all of this.

He would say this sucks.... and that the weather sucks..... then he would go get Subway and walk past Johnny's house.

Finally - we dump that worthless piece of crap in Bickell. Yes, it's unfortunate we had to move TT in the process. He's young and talented but we already have Kane and the Bread Man. We'll be just fine with out him. The grittiness that Shaw brings to the table is much, much more important.

Hopefully we can get a few vet ring chasers on one-year deals. We have a few glaring holes that need to be fixed. After the salary dump purge of 2010, it seemed unlikely Bowman would be able to re-tool after gutting the team. But in 2013 and 2015 he did it again and again.

The core of Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Keith, Nic and Hossa have one more championship in them.

At LEAST on more.

Being soft and hitting are completely different things. Everyone knows that the Blackhawks aren't big hitters but no one is going to call Toews, Kane, Panarin, Hossa, Kruger, AA, etc etc etc soft just because they don't hit.

Not going into high traffic areas (in between the dots) makes someone soft. Getting knocked off the puck easily makes someone soft. Not going into a corner to win a one on one battle makes someone soft. Not willing to take a hit to make a play makes someone soft.

They are just completely different things and people are calling TT soft for reasons completely out of being able to deliver a hit.

The more I read your crap, the more I realize that you don't know a thing about hockey other than what you read. Did you ever play the game, even a little? I played for 15 years and I can tell you from experience that you don't know dick about playing....and this has nothing to do with TT. Just hockey. So keep reading your blogs and posting your nonsense...your moniker is perfect, btw...just read and regurgitate what someone else has said. It's about as close as you'll ever get to the real deal.

You sound very upset over there. Being soft and hitting are different things...hate to tell you but they are.

In terms of me playing...I played AAA, went to prep school out East, played one year in Junior hockey and then just played club hockey after that. I then helped coach and even did some scouting for my former prep school (mostly when showcases were in the Chicago area). I'm in my late 20s now and still play 1 - 3 times a week. I know a lot about playing hockey and attempting to call me out on that is pretty stupid and just makes you look and sound like an idiot for attempting to get "personal" and having it blow up in your face. Happy to stick to my hockey thoughts and opinions around here because I have played and have loved the game for a while.

Melt, I think it came down to the Hawks viewed Teuvo as expendable, they seem to be higher on Schmaltz. Teuvo play regressed from what we saw at in the 2015 Cup finals. Cold be numerous reasons why, what I saw from Teuvo was an laid back approach to board battles, holding one hand one the stick and just stabbing at the puck, he also gets moved off the puck easily. Alot of times when he was on the ice, and we dumped it I to our zone, we lost possession of the puck.

Kid may reach his hyped potential, but it seems the Hawks didn't think his ceiling was going to be higher with in our Organization.

They must be high on either Schmaltz or Motte or there's no way they would've traded Teuvo, because there aren't any other potential Top 6 guys in the system right now. And no, Teuvo did not improve as much as I thought he would last season. But he still had the fourth highest scoring rate on the team behind Toews, Kane and Panarin. That's pretty fucking good for a 21-year-old. He was awesome in the Cup Final because he was positioned on the proper right side and with two other guys that have decent hockey skills in Sharp and Vermette. I love Andrew Desjardins as a fourth liner, but he's just not a guy who should be skating with a guy like Teuvo.

There are plenty of valid criticisms to be made of Teuvo. But the whole "soft" narrative is fucking ridiculous. I've been hearing the Hawks are too "soft" every goddam time they don't win the Cup. It's a dumb fucking buzzword and it's a lazy narrative (not accusing you of using it here, Bigfoot)

I think overlooked beyond just what Shcmaltz may add to replace Teuvo, but they do have several other diminutive in stature skill guys that had gotten their feet wet last year. Hinostroza, Kero (both winger/center flexible) both had some flashes and Hino is fast and Q seemed to like his game, Kero actually was PKing besides Kruger in the time he was his winger in games.

Maybe they aren't top 6 high prospects unless they flourish like Teuvo is already close to. They don't have his mental anticipation but they all (least being Hino) have a 2 way game credit to them, both Motte/Schmaltz were key PKers for their college teams and Motte did it for the US WC team.

I would think you are looking to say, well who plays 3rd line center if Teuvo could of done that at least if hes not in top 6 spots. Well like last year that 3rd line is largely likely to be young again with more Kero/Hino/Rasmussen[though hopefully he stays and re-signs cheap there was a rumor he may sign over in europe]

Not to say Teuvo isn't better than them all as he is currently but the team isn't devoid of the skill prospects like some saying. Actually apart from Hartman and McNeil the likely to play or soon to play size/body types are further away in development. .. can we trade back for Bigfoot?

I always thought TT could play center but I thought he was going to be needed more at RW, given the top two centers the Hawks have locked in for the foreseeable future in Toews and Anisimov. Really thought he was going to take the spot in the top 6 that Hossa would vacate.

At LEAST on more.

Yeah, Crawford!

He's still waiting for the Hawks to make all those changes he called for after Game 4 of the Wings/Hawks series in 2013

Hinzo is a still potential 2nd line ranking guy, He's still just a few months older than Teuvo but came along slower not being a 1st. He doesn't have the mental 2 way game as much seemingly but He is a speedy skill guy and I don't think Kero is a top 6 potential guy but he has a scoring touch & D game. Q had Hino centering Garbutt & Teuvo his 7 games and Kero played besides Kruger. Q seemed to like both those guys despite them only getting a cup of games, just the roster had more vets and he of course needs a Mashinster type to appease him and the players :dealwithit:

Oddly though everyone wrote off McNeil ever being liked by the team and seemingly likely traded by people, maybe he is just gonna eventually get liked and make the team. He no longer will be waiver protected. But sure the "hype" of him or Hartman being 2nd line top 6 guys is gone away but some guys are a Rust/Sherry who are finally gonna be ready at 24 years old to be NHL Players. That is the old RedWings prospects way or still is their way(Look at Mantha, Pukkinen, Nyquist-his first full year wasn't until last season at 25.

Teuvo isn't really a speedy guy, not much of a fast north-south guy at least to say, If you complain about the team getting slower it's not so much from him vs Shaw really in terms of making breakout plays. Teuvo did bring great vision and passing in the neutral zone also opposed to really speed there and that's something that will be more harmful. A good asset he had to why his defensive stats like corsi against were poor because he was really good at passing the puck in the neutral zone north and south and not turning it over doing poor cross ice passes.

I didn't read the whole thread only most of the first page but on the surface while this move sucks in losing TT we finally get the Bickel money back. I think TT was solid and is still on his way, but after a fast peak where he looked like he was going to make the jump he plateau'd a bit and I think started to get hampered by line juggling and such so this move will be great for him. Carolina obviously wins the trade cause they have money to burn and get a guy who should be able to log serious minutes for them... TT not Bickell of course. But overall it's a smart move for the hawks to be able to use the dead money again and with the impending Vegas expansion, they would have probably lost TT anyway, so really they're giving away a player that probably wasn't going to be here anymore for 4 (or is it 4.5) mil in cap space, and a second and third round pick. Once the sting goes away it just makes sense. They can fill the hole with the cap flexibility, keep Shaw, Panarin is still here, core intact. In contrast to the fleecing from last year... meh.

The "fucking ridiculous" soft narrative used to describe TT is not the same "fucking ridiculous" soft narrative that's used to describe the playoff Hawks. The playoff Hawks that have won cups have proven that a hard nosed fast paced game that doesn't try to outhit the opposition (that some fans and media like to call soft) can be successful and not soft at all. So to avoid using the "fucking ridiculous soft narrative" to describe TT at his young age, he is weak on the puck and when going into the corners he lacks grit and toughness not soft at all. Doesn't really seem to be his style doe, hard to say how his game will develop as he matures, only time will tell.

It most definitely could end up being a Lou Brock trade. But if Stan can work some magic with Bickell's contract gone now and get the Hawks another cup TT will be forgotten by most, not you doe. If you had to think of and describe the weak points in TT's game would there be anything?

Teuvo strong points: vision, positioning, defense, IQ

Teuvo weak points: alligator arms at time, knocked off puck easily, tentative in the o zone on dump and chase.

I like Teuvo but the kid regressed, and right now his ceiling might not be higher than Motte or Schmaltz in the Hawks FO eyes.

I don't think there's any difference between the two "soft" narratives. TT is definitely one of the smallest guys on the team, but he's one of several undersized guys along with Kane, Panarin, Shaw, and Gustafsson. But guys like Kane and Panarin, who I'd be modeling my game after if I was him, usually avoid getting thrown around on by using their speed, agility and hands. I think Teuvo was lacking in those areas which did lead to him getting muscled off the puck at times. But as I've said several times, the dude is 21 years old and that's something that can be developed.

My biggest criticism of Teuvo is what he does with the puck. Sometimes it was like you could see him thinking about what he was going to do instead of actually doing something with the puck, resulting in a turnover. Also thought he passed up shots far too often. Again, things that can be amended over the course of a career.

get the Hawks another cup TT will be forgotten by most, not you doe.

Waaaaaaaay off here. Huge fan of Teuvo. Bigger fan of the Hawks. I just think the Hawks got worse with this trade and didn't get enough cap flexibility to make up the talent they lost. We'll see what Stan's got up his sleeve.

Eventually some young forward prospect is going to make it onto the Top 6 on this team and stay there, right? Here's hoping one of them two does it.

Exempted from that list because they signed him from the KHL. Talking about a guy that the Hawks draft, develop, then call up.

But that's not their system right now. They don't develop guys to grow into top 6. They develop guys to be good enough to play and win with the core. Then when they get good, and expensive, be of enough value to bring enough back to them to start the cycle anew while they bring the next group up and do it all over again. So far it's worked but pretty soon they are going to have to decide who the next core is.
