Not certain why people assume mooney is on the way out. Prior to him getting hurt Poles and Getsy liked to talk him up a bunch.

If he comes back and is decent, he's very good friends with Fields and you could get him for a relatively cheap price. He makes a lot more sense to bring back than Claypool since he fits Fields downfield playstyle more.

He and Kmet always seemed like locks for a second contract on offense prior to the mooney injury.

A lot has changed since DJ Moore came to town. With him locked in at the number 1 I think you hope Claypool can ball out as the #2 opposite him and then let Mooney walk cause you're not going to pay all of Moore, Claypool, Mooney and possibly Kmet seven figure annual salaries on average, not to mention a potentially huge extension for Fields.

The fact of the matter is that you hope to be losing good players here soon. That'll mean you're a winning team.

I mean, sure, but you aren't even talking about a 10m a year contract. Kmet would be the most expensive by a wide margin right now.

Fairly certain if they wanted to they can afford all 3 of those guys barring a massive season from one of them.

Robert Quinn coming off an 18.5 sack season only got a 4th back! ?
If Hunter plays 7 games and only has 1 sack, his value wont be much higher. Last year Quinn looked as unimpactful as he did two years prior.

Hey guys, remember that time when Daniel called out a poster for saying Laremy Tunsil would be good:

After being shit on by daneil, Laremy became one of the best LT's in football.

My money is on Daniel being wrong again!

That's not really the important point. You start to hit a point of diminishing returns, which is why you rarely see teams spend so much on one position. Sure, we could afford to go out and spend what's necessary on Hopkins right now then re-sign Claypool and/or Mooney along with Kmet to nice sized deals but why? There's only so many passes to go around especially in an offense that butters it's bread with the run game.

To the reverse of that, if neither Mooney or Claypool show that they're a worthy #2 to Moore over the long-term then maybe you let both of them walk if they command too much from another team. I'd rather spend a year with a little less-than talent at the position then be locked into a bad/overpriced deal just because you could afford the deal. You don't just go spending money on guys just because you can. That's how you end up being Ryan Pace trying to buy his way out of bad drafting and/or trading draft picks away and necessitating a situation where his successor needs to just sell off big contracts to recoup draft picks and suck for a year.

True but the age thing is huge and D.Hunter is a beast at just 28 yrs old. I can't see them trading such a dominant piece inside of the division but sure would be nice to have him. Even at just 28 i'm not sure he fits Poles' timeline.

You don't think Mooney would get $10 mil per if he shows he's healthy and plays well this year? I'm thinking around $11/$12 mil per and might even get more.
