Not my point. The discussion was whether top FA's shun bad teams and money for SB glory. The answer is no.
My bad, with a quick read was that the Bears were making a mistake by not spending big on big name FA's.

I doubt they are fine with what they have, but don't want to use big$$ to add more of the same, just for shiny(ish) slightly used toy. I imagine Poles is waiting to see if he can get a prototype he likes as teams look to move or cut players through TC or cut down day.

Remember the NFL is going to a sing cut date from 90 to 53 on Aug 29th and the Bears get 1st dibs on any player they chose.
The 90 going to 53 that early is a huge difference and a big win for Bears.

I mean Roseman, considered to be the best GM in the league, had this stretch:

Raegor over Jefferson
Dillard over Sweat
Arcega Whiteside over DK Metcalf
Barnett over Allen
Gave Wentz a 2nd contract when it was clear he lost the locker room

But in his defense, he took advantage of shitty GM’s and desperate teams and made up for it. GM’s miss all the time; the great ones don’t double down on their mistakes.
Good post, only some of the posters on CCS never make a mistake.

Kollmann says the time to throw was misleading for fields because he had to ‘run for his life behind a line that couldn’t block, and he was waiting for receivers to get open’

Fielda haters, emotional thinkers, and those citing stats without context should stay away from that podcast because you might get triggered

it wont matter, if fields does well this year its because he has too much time to sit back and scan the field or because of broken plays / busted assignments...

Anyone with half a brain knows this is why his TTT was partially high. Did he hold onto the ball too long? Sure, every young qb does.

This is no different than when everyone was saying Watson's TTT was ridiculous, but it was because dude was running for his life while getting sacked 11ty times.

Fields also will always have a higher time to throw because he chases big plays compared to a scrub QB like Mac Jones.

Yeah going to 53 on August 30th last year was a huge difference compared to August 29th this year
All those players now have one less practice to prove themselves!! Do you not realize how many of them would have made the 53 if they had that one extra practice??

Dane Brugler revisited his top 50 players list from last August and compared it to his final rankings and the players’ actual draft slots. Here are the Bear players that were on the August list.

“22. Noah Sewell, LB, Oregon

Final ranking: No. 154
Where he was drafted: No. 148 (Chicago Bears)

As Penei’s little brother and a five-star high school recruit, Noah Sewell’s first-round hype began before he ever enrolled at Oregon. Though his lack of coverage range was always a concern, his ability to thump downhill against the run and as a blitzer made for an intriguing mix. However, Sewell’s limitations became clearer and clearer on his 2022 film, and he was drafted almost exactly where he landed in my top 300.

29. Gervon Dexter Sr., DT, Florida

Final ranking: No. 55
Where he was drafted: No. 53 (Chicago Bears)

Dexter was another player I initially graded on sophomore flashes and the projection that he’d have a breakout season as a junior. That didn’t quite come to fruition, but it was clear on last year’s film that he has more ability than his lackluster production would lead you to believe. Dexter ended up at No. 55 in my final rankings, and the Bears drafted him near that spot.

41. Zacch Pickens, DT, South Carolina

Final ranking: No. 83
Where he was drafted: No. 64 (Chicago Bears)

A former five-star recruit, Pickens looked and moved differently than the other players on the Gamecocks’ defensive line. He didn’t quite live up to my expectations, which caused him to drop in the rankings as the process played out, but I understand why the Bears drafted him where they did. Pickens has impressive agility and balance for a 300-pounder — those types of players were tough to find in the 2023 class.

45. Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Miami
Final ranking: No. 69
Where he was drafted: No. 56 (Chicago Bears)

With his size (6-0, 200) and speed (4.45), Stevenson had the physical profile that NFL teams crave at the cornerback position. There were some discipline issues that worried some scouts, but Stevenson’s talent belonged in the second round.”

Wright was not on his August list.
Zacch Pickens is the DL draft pick that most interests me. He seems to have everything you look for in a 3T.

I'm not a pickens fan. I think dexter is a much better player and will have more impact immediately and long term

pickens will have to develop the run stopping aspect of his game to be a complete 3T but his pass rushing will be what gets him snaps

not sure if it was something i read or an interview but basically bears liked pickens as a pass rushing guy much like hargrave who is also known for his pass rush and not his run stopping...to me that sounds like pickens would slot in as a pass rushing specialist his first year depending on how he develops his ability to anchor against the run.
