Seems like the offense is inconsistent. The DBs are at full strength though with both mooney and claypool out which probably makes a difference. On the bright side some hope that the defense is improved.

My theory is he's returning punts until Scott is good to go with the offensive playbook and then Velus is bye bye. Would assume they don't want to overwhelm him with too much too early but the writing seems on the wall.

I think they end up giving VJJ the nod over Pettis, but could see a scenario where it goes the other way.

Pettis vs st. Brown for the final spot. Pettis is a more useful player but st. Brown gives you the big bodied blocker they love.

I think Pettis & St. Brown beat out VJJ for the last spot. I don't think VJJ is a particularly good football player beyond being fast with the ball but I hope to be proven immensely wrong. I think they'll default to Brown & Pettis because of their superior blocking abilities and they'll show VJJ the pink slip.
So ultimately Moore, Claypool, Mooney, Scott, St. Brown and Pettis are who I think they wind up with when the season starts barring injuries or an additional player added via free agency.

I think VJJ stays only because of where he was drafted lasted year. Think the Bears take a chance on him over someone like Pettis or St Brown. Either way, between the 3, none of them will be big contributors. But maybe VJJ actually pulls his head out of his ass
