Pretty shit start to the offseason, everyone predictably getting tagged, no clear cut talent at the top of the draft. I'm 100000% down for trading back and acquiring numerous picks. All depends on what offensive line talent we get in free agency, but moving back and getting a Skoronski/Tyree Wilson and JSN is a great option.
From a purely football perspective its a bit of a godsend that the Bears are now massively less tempted to forgo a trade down and overdraft this overrated defensive tackle (one of the least valued NFL positions) prospect just because he is a great scheme fit for this coach who is another bad season away from being out of a job.

Obviously the amount of personal tragedy around the situation outweighs the football.

Well this changes things quite a bit. Anderson it bust for a true blue chip prospect. I don’t like the huge gap between Anderson and Tyree Wilson.

Otherwise you might as well try and trade back into the middle of the round for a WR/OT

Lol

That doesn’t change the fact it’s a misdemeanor. Or are you actually blaming carter for their deaths? Because thats a bit of a stretch to say the least IMO

After the Ruggs incident I can’t believe you’re even arguing this.

No he didn’t cause their deaths. But he was involved in an incident where it’s very easy for someone to die.

He’s already been ticketed for going 89 in a 45. I don’t want athletes that drive like idiots.

You’re comparing two wildly different things.

No, they aren't. I'm saying it's a trend that he plays both sides on top prospects all the time with vague shit. This one he happened to get right with Carter on as vague a character issue as possible. 2 weeks ago he said "Carter is the real deal". So which is it? The real deal or character concerns? He never took a consistent position so he's right if Carter becomes a star and he's right if Carter does something stupid. It's both sides.

He did the same thing with JSN this year, basically called him a quitter and soft.

Here's one from 2022 on Thibodeaux.

This is one dating back to 2011 to Michael Oher.

He does this all the time. Sometime he gets them right, sometimes he doesn't.

I’m not condoning driving like an idiot

And I can’t believe you’re comparing the Ruggs situation where he legit killed someone to carters situation where his car wasn’t involved in any wreck, the car he was racing was.

Again, not saying it’s a good look or anything, but the two situations are very different still

And that's before he gets paid millions for getting drafted.

Didn't it also say that he left the scene and gave the cops info that wasn't true?

Results do yield different consequences

Had ruggs not killed someone, just got caught drag racing, he wouldn’t currently be sitting in prison

So yeah, because he didn’t kill anyone this time is why he won’t be in prison and why it’s just a misdemeanor

That’s how our judicial system works, you get punished for what DID occur, not what COULD of occurred

I don't know, friend. I think he has a point.

If Poles does draft Carter, would you not root for him as a consequence of this incident? Would you give him the chance to either grow from being involved in another man's death and turn it around?

Sure did. Didn’t it also say he’s still only being charged with a misdemeanor?

Also, innocent till proven guilty is how we operate in this country

I don't think he deserves prison nor does he deserve to have his NFL future completely taken away. But he is for some serious adversity and will need to improve himself dramatically if he wants to have a successful life. This is a struggle many young men have as their bodies mature years and years ahead of their minds.

He'll certainly get a chance.
