I can't imagine they spend a 2nd on LB at this point. No need to.

IOL and DL.

Would be HUGE to get one big DL signing in FA. Cross your fingers.

But there is depth in this draft.
Don't think he's referring to drafting a lb in the 2nd. More like the cost of roquan vs what we got from roquan which was a second.

For the ***** crew, would you rather Poles spend money on players that are young and ascending or just spend on the positions you want them to fill?

The Bears need good players. The Bears have money and holes to fill. I’ll take good, young, ascending players every time.

It is laughable to think that an "off ball" linebacker is not important to a defense. Do people even know the importance of defending the middle of the field?

Especially true in a Cover 2 where your Mike and Will don't come off the field. Let's remember that his is the D where Urlacher and Briggs were mission critical.

I suspect Poles went into FA wanting to shore up DL and OL but then he looked at the ridiculous money DTs were getting and the ridiculous money that mediocre OTs were getting and quickly pivoted to spending on players he felt were worth the money.

You can then expect him to probably target T, C, DL with those 4 picks in the top 64.
Signing good players at any position narrows down the needs in the draft. Now we don't need to worry about linebacker where it was a worry before.

#9 will be a prime spot for either a top tackle on offense or a great prospect on the d-line, both needs right now.

Fifty million big ones is a nice consolation for going from Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones and Greg Rousseau to a front four of guys that wouldn't even start in the SEC.

My dream scenario though is still for us to trade a 2nd this year and next for Tunsil.

By all accounts the Bears had an offer for him.

Wonder how much money they saved by not matching the Broncos or if he just preffered to play with the Broncos instead.

Either way it's a bad look for the Bears.
Most money to spend, either didn't want to spend more or the player said no thanks.
So what is it now, players don't want to play for the Bears, Poles won't spend?

Looking more like we trade down from 9. Pick an ot in the first and hit the dl in the 2nd hard.

This is a possibility.

Putting Whitehair at C is not. There are C options available where the Bears have three picks. There is no way Whitehair is their vision at C at $10M per year. Nate Davis is same cost and may be a small/moderate upgrade. I cannot envision the Bears playing them together at LG and C.
John Michael Schmitz (MN), Joe Tippman (WI), and Luke Wypler (OSU)...one of these guys should still be available in the 2nd. Tackle probably thins out by the early 2nd. Tons of good guards who fit in the 3rd / 4th.

Trade that #9 and two 2nds (one this year, one next), and maybe one later pick, for Tunsil and the #12 pick.

At this point I will be looking for a defensive and offensive tackle to make the day complete...

Bears are giving former Bills’ LB Tremaine Edmunds a 4-yr, $72M that includes $50M guaranteed, per source. It is the largest 4-year contract for an inside linebacker in the NFL.

Wow, although I did hope that the Lions signed him, not at that price.
Again. It's cool to have another NFC North voice in this forum. But since u didnt answer before.. another member pointed out that when you joined in 2014- you were a Bears fan. So what happened since? You like both teams... or only the Lions.... or?
