Can Edwards play weakside? Which one will they move

Edwards Mike and Edmunds Will if I had to guess. Edwards is more of the steady guy and better in run D while Edmunds had an amazing year in coverage and probably more of the big play guy best suited for Will.

From 2018 thru 2022, some interesting Trumaine Edmunds/Roquan Smith comparisons:

Sacks:
Smith 18.5
Edmunds 6.5

Ints:
Smith 8
Edmunds 5

tackles:

Smith 693
Edmunds 565

Edmunds is a beast, excited to have him as a bear, but that is a lot of $$$. Oh well, I'm assuming the coaching staff has big plans for this D. Time to shore up the lines.

For the ***** crew, would you rather Poles spend money on players that are young and ascending or just spend on the positions you want them to fill?

The Bears need good players. The Bears have money and holes to fill. I’ll take good, young, ascending players every time.

I'd rather him sign young and ascending players, but there are still good players put there at premium positions.

My problem is that it seemed Poles pivoted away from allocating alot of money at the LB position when he let Roquan go. The TJ Edward's deal made a ton of sense at 6 5 mil a year and consistent with this line of thinking. But then to get in a bidding war and spend 18 mil on Edmunds doesn't make much sense to me. I'd rather draft another LB if necessary. Maybe Okere from Indy.

But now we strapped alot of money right back into LB when it was thought that money could go elsewhere on offense. Or at a premium defensive position like CB or pass rusher.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
Dremont Jones would be the capper to a solid day. Then just pick a tackle at 9.

Yes, easily.
If they can sign Dre'Mont Jones, they can address OT with pick # 9--Paris Johnson, for example. Otherwise they have two huge needs and their next pick is near the bottom of the second round.

Don't think he ever pivoted. More likely he offered Edmunds a similar deal to what he wanted to give Quan. Quan wanted 20m a year while Edmunds was fine with 18m. This is not a case where he didn't offer Quan anything. Poles stuck to his upper limit for a very good off ball LB.

Bills and Eagles DL have been very good maybe top two in the NFL. Playing LB under those circumstances is quite easy when you don’t have to shed blocks all game.
