That was my thought.....side to side he is a monster

While he has the size for Mike, I think Flus performs to play his big play LB at Will. Of course he can play the Urlacher role but think Edwards is more suited to that more lunch pail type role and you let Edmunds do his thing from the Will spot where he will be blocked less.

Edwards Mike and Edmunds Will if I had to guess. Edwards is more of the steady guy and better in run D while Edmunds had an amazing year in coverage and probably more of the big play guy best suited for Will.
Pretty sure Edwards is regarded highly in coverage and edmunds is so so

Edwards gives them options for sure

Again. It's cool to have another NFC North voice in this forum. But since u didnt answer before.. another member pointed out that when you joined in 2014- you were a Bears fan. So what happened since? You like both teams... or only the Lions.... or?
When I joined I liked both teams. But people on this forum tell me that is not possible, so,.,,,,,,,,,,

I am wondering if Poles is doing the slow play this season. Last year he added db's. This year some LB's and wr. Will add 2-3 starters in the draft. But the oline and dline still need work. We aren't a playoff team either way. Maybe lose some more next year then try and finish the team.

bearsb_logo.gif Bears sign LB Tremaine Edmunds (4 years, $72 million; $50 million guaranteed): B- Grade
It's remarkable how quickly things can change. The Bears had one of the worst linebacking corps in the NFL entering today. Yet, in a span of about four hours, Chicago can now say it has one of the best linebacker tandems in the NFL.

We'll have to see if that comes to fruition. I don't have doubts about T.J. Edwards. Tremaine Edmunds, on the other hand, was awful to start his career before enjoying a terrific 2022 season. It remains to be seen if he can continue his high level of play, but there's no doubt that the 25-year-old Edmunds has huge upside. This signing certainly comes with a high level of risk, which is why I've given the move a B-, but it could certainly pay off if Edmunds continues to develop.

The first signing during the 2023 free agency period is a slam dunk. When I saw that the Bears immediately agreed to terms with T.J. Edwards, I was concerned that they highly overpaid. That is definitely not the case.

This is a great price for Edwards, who has quietly become one of the top off-ball linebackers in the NFL. Edwards will be a huge, yet cheap upgrade to a position vacated by the trade of Roquan Smith. Linebacker was already a need with Smith on the roster, so this is just the beginning of the defensive rebuilding process for the Bears.

Jewels to get a case of Squirt
Don't think so if reports Edmunds contract is frontloaded is true. They had 70m including Moore's contract. Would have to think the 3 signings today probably took them closer to 35-40m. Given this is the last year of the 2021-2023 minimum cash spend, they are better off front loading and saving some cap space next year.
They had $76 according to spotrac. Edwards counts $5, already up. They don't save money next year by frontloading because of roll over.

Even if Edmunds counts $17, and that is unlikely, they will still be around $50.
