Yeah, he should have given him a shot.Kmet was open underneath if you watch at 48 seconds of the below. Guy closes late but if he threw to Kmet then one guy to drag for a first down.

Honestly looks like Justin Fields should've handed the ball off differently and could've easily had the 1st down right?
He has a hot read at the bottom of the screen he never looks at for the 1st down.
** if he had caught. Kmet is the anti-rz.Kmet was open underneath if you watch at 48 seconds of the below. Guy closes late but if he threw to Kmet then one guy to drag for a first down.

You can look at any play in hindsight and say the QB could've mad a different read.
In what world is Pettis a viable option at WR? He wouldn't be starting for any other team in the league. We can do the same for St. Brown. Your criticism of Fields is valid but you are giving a pass to the OL and WR, its despicable.
I mean maybe….
I’m pretty critical normally but this is one I’ll give a pass. It would take a damn good effort from Kmet.
He's a starter now. Default!
Now imagine if he could practice well on Wednesdays, sky is the limit.
Dilfer is saying you watch a quarterbacks feet and eyes to see if he is going through his reads properly. Against the Giants, he saw nothing on rewatch that would indicated Fields is not going through his progressions. If this is the Pettis drop, Difler labeled that a great throw that the receiver needs to catch. You seem confused. I dont really care about ESB or Pettis as I dont view them as long term solutions. They are not getting a pass as I have already moved on from them as I already expect them to be replaced next year with the 100m and draft picks we have.
I focus on Fields because it is important to determine if he is doing the things that make keeping him worth it or not as he hopefully is a critical piece to future success.
There was nothing there for Pettis so he has to move on to another target and Kmet is on same side of the Field with some degree of separation. Move on to your next read.
The point is there is no window for Pettis as he gets no separation on that play do he has to progress to the next guy. It is about getting him to consistently make the right the decision. Throwing it out of bounds to Pettis on 3rd and 6 is not bettwr than throwing it to Kmet at 4 or 5 yards and hoping he can beat one guy. If not then so be it but you did your job.
