He’s been a bit off, but talent is there.
Hes been mediocre for one of the best offenses in football for 2 years. KC isn't interested in paying him what he wants. Give me Elgton Jenkins and Conklin and Hudson at C.

Before people get all sweaty looking at this….. McCoy is gone and so will several more before the Bears get a crack at them.
I'd guess Wynn and Conklin will be available at T and Bozeman at C. Not sure who else on the C list makes it to FA. I'd love Morse or Hudson.

Jenkins should probably be target #1 on OL. Versatile and very little chance the Packers can resign him.

I'm not sure what cap ramifications would be, but any chance packers move on from baktiarri to make room for Jenkins? I'd think they'd try to make it work to keep him around. If he hits FA, I'd be shocked if bears don't do everything they can to sign him day 1.

Not sure Bears can afford OL in round 1 - its a huge need but its one( of the many) holes that is pretty easily filled by FA. High draft pick almost has to be either WR or DT because outside of Payne as a NT i dont see answers to those roster issues being solved by the '23 FA class. Still hoping Gordon rounds into shape that DB wont be as big an issue as it looked in firstquarter of season.

Hitting on the two second round DB’s would make me feel a lot better about Poles.
It's funny but this is how I'm consuming bears football, and it's not unique really, all the scout dads around the bonfire last night had the same sort of sentiment - don't care about wins, want to see promising things from Fields. Want to see rookies play and show something. I myself have been invested in Brisker and Gordon, so the Thursday game was a good watch for me, seeing some serious improvement and flashes from Gordon.

I'd say possible but unlikely. Cutting him would free $6m or so, but would leave $23m in dead cap. Their cap is a total mess so I guess anything could happen there but I'd say pretty good chance Jenkins is available.

Yeah I think they need to target Payne, he is just an overall good player who will anchor the IDL, and there will be a couple other guys who are interior pass rushers, not necessarily 3techs, that they may target as well. Dre'mont Jones for example. But the pickings are going to be slim and past Jalen Carter there really aren't a lot of strong prospects there imo.

They definitely need a center. Past that I think they have to see how Jones and Borom develop. And if they want to keep Whitehair. Patrick has been really disappointing at G and I don't expect him to be much better at C.

I'd expect Jenkins at RG as the only player who should be marked for sure as a starter next year. But I suspect they will see enough from Jones to put him in at LT. Whitehair if they keep him. OL also benefits a great deal from continuity, because communication is key especially in zone.
I don’t see any reason they cut Cody. He’s a good (not great) LG and they need help on the OL. They have a boatload of cap space and it’s a weak class overall…why the hell would they cut a good player on a weak unit and create another need? It’s not like they need the additional cap. Would be really dumb imo

The focus needs to be on C. Borom looks like he’s progressing, but if they could sign Conklin do it and figure it out later. Maybe have Borom compete at LT with Braxton and/or a rookie.

If they decide they need a LT that’s extremely hard to get in free agency and will need to be drafted most likely.

WR’s don’t need to go in round 1. The league is littered with great WR’s found in round 2. (Or later but especially round 2)

3 tech has a good shot at going in round 1.

I'm not advocating for it but I would say it's a possibility. For example, if you could get Jenkins as an FA from the Packers, I'd rather have him than Whitehair. Would depend on how FA shakes out.

Kelce will retire and Bradbury hasn’t been good for the Vikings. Conklin will hit free agency though

I gotcha. It’s possible…and if they can get Jenkins, I could get on board. Other than that, i don’t see any reason to cut him.

If the Bears do get Jenkins, do they explore the possibility of Cody at C? Not a ton of options in FA, and it’s probably their biggest need. Cody is a decent C, although his snapping issues are worrisome. Sign Conklin too and let’s roll

Jones(or Borom)/Jenkins/Cody/Teven/Conklin
