I kinda agree with Angelo's comments stating that choosing your guy based on who gives the best interview is a flawed way to pick a coach or GM, and one of the reasons this franchise has struck out time after time.

My guess is that Belichick didn't knock anyone over with his interviews.

Interviewing 15 people means you had no plan on what you wanted before firing the current HC. You had more than enough time to get your top candidates in, put out feelers, interview them and be done with it.

But that's how organized franchises do things.
Wow. Requesting permission to interview is not the same as actually interviewing. They could be casting as wide a net as possible to stream line the process for the next GM. That way they don’t actually have to go through the formal process of requesting permission.

My only reservation about Flores is in three years he has had 4 OCs and 2 DCs. That is a little worrisome.
Very fair and I agree. At least we know he won’t put up with mediocrity lol.

So I take it you may prefer the tunnel vision method.

Interview 15 coaches...

Aske every one of them: "If we were to hire you name three front office men you'd like to work with as a GM?"

If you see a name that pops up a bunch then you've learned that's a GM candidate who is well respected and maybe you should seriously consider that guy.

This is just one of many reasons to talk to lots of guys. Maybe someone blows you away in the interview you hadn't really considered before. Regardless, there is nothing wrong whatsoever with taking your time and talking to lots of people.

I think I heard the Steelers interviewed 34 coaches before settling on Tomlin. Anyone saying they're interviewing too much is an idiot.

Despite what some of you think, George / Polian / Whoever is certainly doing this the right way so far

He had Chad O'Shea as his OC in 2019...the Dolphins offfense was just plain bad. Leading rusher for the Dolphins that season was Ryan Fitzpatrick.

2020 Flores had Chan Gailey who then retired unexpectedly after the season.

2021 Flores went with co-offensive coordinators with George Godsey and Eric Studesville.

Flores is said to be highly demanding of not only the players but his coaches.

So O'Shea was fired
Gailey was told to either resign or get fired

So two OCs and two DCs in three years......still not good.

I see your point. *BUT* Bulls just finished getting a draft pick taken from them for tampering with Billy. All those college football coaching changes just happened without a single interview. Cubs hired Maddon and got investigated without a single interview.

Why? Because they knew exactly what they wanted, put out feelers and hired their Plan A. But all that happens when you have people running things that know what they're doing. Cubs with Theo and Bulls now with Art.

Bears brass has ZERO clue what they're doing and that isn't even up for debate. So my apologies if I see things differently than believing they're going to get blown away from an interview like if this is a manager for a Walmart.

I think you mean Ball tampering.
