Honestly, this is the most impressed I've come away from a Bears HC / GM search at this stage of the game.

Ultimately the results will be what matter, but the quality of people the Bears are interviewing and the wide net they are casting feels like this is being done right for the first time.

Not sure anyone here cares that you are impressed

but ok

Still absolutely nothing from Harbaugh. The longer this drags on, the more it looks like he's not serious at all about leaving. You'd at least think he'd take an interview or two to make it look like he was interested so he could get more money out of Michigan. I have no idea what he's doing right now.

He is waiting for the Raiders to lose. Bears should have went all in this week if they wanted to hire him.

Already been reported he is in talks with Michigan regarding extension.

Im kind of split about having hope at this point. On one hand, we've seen this before where they cast a large net, interview a ton of people and then make a terrible decision. At the end of the day, George has final say, Ted has input and Polian has decades of relationships and potential bias.

On the other hand, there is something that gave me a sliver of hope when i listened to the presser again. Wiederer asked what factored into the decision to fire Pace and what will factor into the hiring of the next GM. George said a couple things that seems so obvious but are constantly a little in-town stupid for people who let fandom get in the way of objective analysis.

First he said wins/losses, which should be a given. Then he said when evaluating the roster he's looking for "difference makers" and "roster construction". That is why Pace is gone. What have me and you bitched about into the ether the past couple years? There is a lack of legitimate play makers/difference makers on the team and it has been built mainly through FA. George has been looking at this team through dongbears googles. Overvaluing warm bodies and mistaking them for difference makers. All he saw were GEMs! Bill is old as dirt but its not hard to watch this team and say "yeah, you dont have a lot of talent".

Its still hard to look past George's awful judgement. I'm hoping that Tanesha Wade can at least be there as a counter to whatever handout Polian will inevitably try to give to one of his connections. Hopefully she's there to actually prevent bias and not push her own.
You know the funniest shit we have @dabears70 @Mighty Joe Young and a few other goofy ******* telling us the roster isn’t that bad as posters make it out to be. Even the dumb **** owner said I see no playmakers lol lol.

As much as i shit on DBB and would rather not see every single one of his tweets reposted here, he said the same thing the other week that ive been saying relentlessly over the year. Fans overrate their fav team's players. You know the names. You know their background, their scouting reports, every person who has said a nice thing about them. Fans take so many things they hear and just run with them.

One person said Pace was going to be bumped and everyone ran with it. It never made sense.

We need to go back to using our eyes.

They may have already interviewed him for all anyone knows. You don’t have to announce or ask permission for him.

Don't know if this has been posted. I could not see this thread because I put the OP on ignore for spamming the board with David Montgomery threads.

Yeah posted. The Bill Polian effect is real

The Bears are the #1 job out there by far (not even close). They will get their choice of all the candidates, just up to them to pick the right ones.
Jacksonville has Trevor Lawrence and that will be appealing. But Chicago should be very attractive to most.

Sure looks that way. I like the high level positions in multiple successful orgs.

from his wiki..
He really moved up the ladder in Green Bay.......while his father Ron was GM!

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. DePaul Blue Demons
Minnesota has a pretty good roster and more stable ownership.

Jacksonville has a QB that was the former #1 pick last year, the top pick in the 2022 draft, and amply cap space. Denver has a young talented roster (albeit no QB), 11 draft picks in the next draft, and good cap space. Miami is going to have the most amount of salary cap space in the league this offseason. The Bears current roster is mediocre, they only have 5 draft picks in 2022, and their salary cap space situation is not terrible but have significant holes. So to think that the bears are the top choice and that's even not even close you have to believe that Justin Fields as a prospect trumps the big advantages some of the other teams looking for a coach have over the Bears.
