Rick Smith was on the Bears list, or am I mistaken?
I think I read they requested an interview, perhaps he doesn't want to come back or just doesn't want to GM the Bears?

So why are we interviewing coaches if they want to hire the GM first?
If I remember the right, teams can only do 2nd interviews with coaches on teams that make the Superbowl. So, if they don't interview them now then they would have to wait until after the Superbowl. So, my assumption would be they have a GM in place by that time and could then be a part of the 2nd interview to make the final decision.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Thanks. Lots of articles having Bears love going Smith’s way. Wiederer said there was mutual interest. A you tube bro saying it was scheduled.

Would Smith feel limited possibly by the Bears stressing “high character guys.” There had to be some dirt out there on Watson, Pace never considered him…

He probably was told how his salary would be minimal and his responsibilities maximum and told them to go pound sand.

He prob didn’t make it that far. They likely asked him to participate in a mock press conference puppet show and declined
I heard he used profanity

All I ever saw was mutual interest. No mention of if or when he would interview.
He's not employed so they don't have to publicly request permission, but they are releasing the scheduled interviews so we'd expect to see his name. I thought someone said early on he was going to be a little later in the process, but I don't know if that's true.

Jesus, if Harbaugh ends up leaving Michigan, and it's not to the Bears, this franchise deserves to be career losers. Just thinking of this scenario makes me want to put my fist through a wall.
Why? Proven QB or rookie with horrible stats but lots of potential? Raiders job certainly has its own appeal.

Bears won’t pay the money required for Harbaugh. It’s obvious he would come here over that Raiders job with Mahomes and Herbert in the same division. That job is doomed.
