If they did this as a straight up deal for Watson I’ll allow it. Anything else and I’m done being a fan of the Bears until they sell I’ll just go fishing.
Curious, isn’t Watson’s charge still pending? Or maybe they were just allegations.

Laughing at Tom Brady
Love my Bears, but if they trade Fields and draft capital for Watson, I will be furious as ****. If they trade him with no answer at QB, it would be a dagger for a while for me also. I would have a hard time buying into it without that position addressed. Fields was my fav college QB and I wanted him over all others in the draft. That one would sting.

I understand the allegations against Watson and it looks like he is a POS. Unlike some I can separate personal from professional. I can root for the player and not the person. We need some fucking QB play. Watsons cases likely all get dropped. Hard to think 20+ is a smear campaign.

My bias choice is ride it out with Fields. So much potential there and thus far is not a lunatic off of the field. If straight up Fields for Watson, we at least know what Watson is (top 5).

This also likely means Smith and Flores.

Fields was the first time in my life the Bears picked the guy I wanted. I jumped around my house like we won the super bowl. I don’t want him traded but if it were for a cleared Watson and straight up meaning nothing extra I’d be ok with it, but still bummed because I to share that bias.

Perhaps a dark horse candidate entering the mix?
I love Peanut Tillman, but the Bears' GM is essentially head of all football operations, even without a VP title. We need, as one writer has emphasized, a guy overqualified to be GM. The job entails a lot.

Playing CB and working for the FBI are probably not the answer to his question. But if he wants to get basically a job in the front office to start getting experience, I am sure the new GM will be hiring plenty of people. Join in.

We all have our favorites. McDaniels and Leftwich are at the absolute bottom of the list for me. Brady made Leftwich. McDaniel is a fucking douchebag and a total failure at HC.

And no...I am not interested in entering the vortex with you. I am not going to change your mind and you aren't going to change mine.

I just don’t understand why a GM wouldn’t take a chance on Fields?

Arm Talent ✅
Legs✅
Height✅
His previous HC was shit✅

The other rookies weren’t lighting it up. The best was Jones and his arm was a liability in inclement weather. At least let’s see Fields with good coaching and competent O-line before g making any judgments.

Also No GM candidate should say that about. Fields because it wasn’t his choice. He has at least 3 years of job sexurity. If the new GM trade Fields and he lights it up, then his job might in jeopardy.

Oh lord, if the new GM traded Fields. :ROFLMAO:

"A source indicated that some candidates the Bears have met with thus far stated they weren’t overly high on Fields. They had different ideas about what direction to go at quarterback."
Linking and citing a Sportsmockery blog post is beneath your CCS stature. Has Aesopian or MJY hacked your account?

No by tweak, I mean he learned what Brady liked and adjusted the plays he called.

“We’re doing the same stuff,” Leftwich said Tuesday. “I know there’s this big talk about everything. The offense is based on the quarterback. That’s what I believe in in coaching. It’s always been that way. I told you guys it took us time. We didn’t have an opportunity to practice (during the pandemic shutdown) so we were trying to figure things out on Sunday.

“But we’re not doing all this motion stuff, I don’t know where you get all that from. We put our quarterback in the best position to have success all the time and that’s how we’ve always looked at it. Week 1 last year. Did we do a better job? We may have as we learned each other, me and Tom ... I did a better job of putting him in position. But we didn’t go and start doing all this different stuff.”

It is just funny how Weiss, Gase, McDaniels, BoB and all these other coaches can work with Manning or Brady and their abilities don't get questioned but somehow it is an issue with Leftwich. As sesame street would say,

One Of These Things (Is Not Like The Others)
One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?
I think you're making the opposite point you're hoping to.

The fact that each of these coaches was hailed as a genius, who later sucked when they didn't have Manning or Brady is the very reason many fear that Leftwich is getting too much credit.

Maybe Leftwich is an offensive genius. But when all his success is with Brady, it's hard to be sure.

People are constantly saying Daboll was a failure until he had Allen, because his offense did not have the same success with Brady Quinn that Leftwich had with Tom Brady.

And yet with the #6 defense by dvoa they didn’t even make playoffs. Clearly that wasn’t working.
With a defense that good, Tampa couldn't succeed due to one thing: The Interceptions. The same interceptions that are "no big deal", apparently.

Obviously the Bears aren't trading Justin Fields, but if there was at least one coach who wasn't sold on him, it has to be Brian Flores, doesn't it?

If he hated Tua as much as he did, I'm not sure why he would view Justin Fields any differently. Complete guess here, but I think he's too headstrong to have the patience to develop a young quarterback. I think he wants to go somewhere with an established veteran quarterback or he wants to bring Deshaun Watson with him wherever he goes.

This all has to be nonsense. If Field would've stayed at Ohio State he probably wins the Heismann, Ohio State competes for a National Championship and he'd be the #1 pick of this year's draft.

Trade Fields...

GTFOH.

If Harbaugh lands with the Raiders, as many have suspected all along due to previous relationships, it doesn't automatically mean he wanted the Bears job but they were too cheap. (That is such a tired line)

The Bears are not hiring both a President of Football Ops and a GM. That has been made clear.

The Bears are not going to get Ed Dodds to be Assistant GM when he is a hot commodity for a GM post, there are 4 open, and he has reportedly been offered a GM job before. Additionally, in the event he doesn't land a GM job this cycle, he is already an assistant GM under a guy he respects at a stable organization. He isn't taking a lateral move and the uncertainty that comes with it.
