I see you are going to die on the Sean Desai hill. Keeping around the guy that led the #22 ranked defense with player meltdowns and sniping and multiple late game chokes would be move #1 to assured continuation of the current "Bears Way."
There is no hill. I noted that Hoge, Jahns and Fishbain all referenced Desai in their HC articles. Not my fault he is apparently well regarded despite your hate. It is like you are upset that people think highly of him,

Sean Desai, defensive coordinator, Bears
While the Bears might want to make a full change and go with someone outside the building, it would be worth it for McCaskey to interview Desai for a few reasons. No one on staff knows the franchise’s arc in the post-Lovie Smith era better than Desai, who has been with the Bears since 2013. Desai has worked his way up from quality control coach to safeties coach to defensive coordinator, working for three head coaches — a rarity in today’s NFL. This season, while the Bears defense didn’t take the ball away at a high enough rate and had a few notable lapses in losses to the Rams, Buccaneers, Steelers and Ravens, it held up well overall, leading the league in sacks per pass attempt and finishing tied for 12th in yards per play allowed. Desai’s unit finished the season strong after losing several starters due to injury and COVID-19. Brandon Staley went from position coach in Chicago to one year as a coordinator in L.A. to a respected head coach. With that in mind, McCaskey may want to see what the Bears already have in Desai.
And from Adam Hoge
Sean Desai, 38
Desai’s rise from a quality control coach on the Bears’ staff has been impressive and he’s done very little to warrant criticism as a first-time defensive coordinator this season. Is he ready to be a head coach? The Bears would know better than anyone else. I could see Desai getting an interview and it would be justified. Ultimately, keeping him as the defensive coordinator, as Nagy did with Fangio in 2018, would be the big victory.
