I mean, Goff still put up 300 yards, and they did score 14 points, so yes, they are not good, but I think that this was a HUGE improvement over last week. Shows that Nagy can't call plays, and Lazor knows what he's doing, really showed more of Fields and his skillset, and I think puts us on the path to real growth and improvement. Believe me, I don't think this is all solved, and I expect us to struggle to get a winning record, but it sure as hell looked better. Baby steps.
Mitch Trubisky, career vs. Lions:

7 games, 4 wins
68.8% completions
1,868 yards (267 avg)
15 TDs, 4 INTs
7.8 Yards per attempt
106.8 Passer Rating
1 Rush TD
17 Rush YPG

Not sure on your point? I think Trubisky is a GOOD QB. Roughing up the Lions isn't all that impressive though. But you have to admit that this is PROGRESS.

Mitch got right on the backs of the Lions more than once, only to fall on his face against an NFL-level team later. Enjoy the good vibes for now but Vegas will be a considerably bigger test, especially on the road.

But that always has been the path in football.

A struggling team rights the ship for a week against a worse team .

This gives the Bears a baseline going forward on formulating an offensive identity around Fields and his capabilities .

One thing about Mitch and the Lions is that his success benefitted greatly from the Lions coach Patricia's love of man to man which Mitch did very well with as most young qbs do . Everyone knew Mitch struggled with zone but the Lions would run man regardless.

In the Fields situation it wasn't so much the Lions playing to Fields strengths but the Bears game plan playing to his strengths and going forwarded the key will be seeing what adjustments the Bears have in place for the adjustments they should already see coming .

But first things first lets see them stick with the formula against a good team and then see those adjustments .

How did Sewell do?

I tried to watch him and Quinn going at it and thought he did well. Quinn roughed him up at times, but only got to Goff when the Lions were dumb enough to let Hockenson block Quinn one on one.

I would say that Detroit's OL is their biggest strength. Still, Goff kinda sucks and they have a bunch of nobodies at receiver.

That defense is sad. Their DL is softer than warm butter, which helped players like Daniels & Ifedi look a lot better than they did in Cleveland.

Speaking of their defense....

Mooney should see plenty of one on one work with the inexperienced Price. If Mooney can consistently win this match up, it will allow the Bear offense to really stretch a defense for the first time all season.

Someone posted a tweet regarding Sewell and depending on how accurate it was, it didn’t sound like a good day for him. 2 sacks, 7 pressures, DET second lowest graded offensive player.

So, did this win show us:

1. That Lazor can call plays, and knows how to run this OFF
2. That Fields, while still a rookie of course, is as good as we hoped
3. That the Lions are not very good, so take it with a grain of sale
4. All of the above

All of the above. It's a rookie year, don't get too high or low on what you see. At least he's not so bad he's only going to play a few games and get traded or cut. He's definitely like I said, a more talented Trubisky.
His legs are a threat (if the coaches would design plays for that, watch out) and he can hit beautiful long passes without thought.

And the Lions definitely are still the Lions possibly even worse with Goff than they were with Stafford.

Yes, the Lions are the Lions. But there's definitely talent in Fields.
I think there was even talent in Trubisky (not as much as Fields) and a lot of his problem were his coaches. We'll see on that, it seems the Bills are giving him a chance to prove himself.

I'm getting vibes from Fields becoming a great one for us. I never got anything from Trubisky other than wait and see and thinking the coaches weren't using him right. If I place that on my Ortman scale of vibes (which played out) Fields will be the best Bears QB ever, Trubisky will probably end up a career backup but not wash out of the NFL.

Yes. My only point is that we've seen this song and dance before. Play the Lions, smack 'em around, talk about progress and then watch the team suck against an NFL caliber team. The only thing I can say for certain is that whipping the Lions is better than the alternative but it's not a good measuring stick.

I agree but again, just saying, it's the Lions. I'll wait til Fields/Lazor/others do it against a quality defense/team.

Sounds about right....can't remember the second sack, but I may have missed it.

He's a rookie that spent the offseason preparing to play RT and got switched over to LT, so I am giving him a heck of a curve on his grade and I say a solid C.

Robert Quinn is also playing pretty beastly this season.

True. You're not wrong. But I think Fields needed a game/team like this to get back on track, to find his confidence again. He looked pretty shellshocked after his first game. I don't want him to lose his confidence/mojo, and fucking Nagy is doing all he can to screw this kid up.

It's the ease of how he flicked that long floater. He's got "it". Whether the Bears beat it out of him I don't know.
If he can make that throw look that easy in his 2nd start imagine what he can do with experience.

Imagine having more than one target that can get separation like that…..
