As if you would ever see LeBron James guarding Dwight Howard in the post. If that has ever happened, LeBron was screaming for help. Don't pretend like it is outrageous to claim Durant is the MVP this season.

Dude, find a television and watch it...Lebron guarded Dwight Howard for short periods of time...SUNDAY!!! And no he wasn't "screaming for help". It was on national television.

So who's pretending again?

Yes the MVP award is been given to any player that can guard Dwight Howard in the post.

At this point we have one player that throws monstrous numbers(LeBron) and one player that throws monstrous numbers when it counts more and his team has won half of their games because of his clutch performances(Durant).

Let me believe that the most valuable player so far without question is the second one

The same time LBJ was guarding Howard in the post,Durant was scoring 21 points in the 4th quarter and the ot against the Nuggets including one steal and one and1 in the game winner play.

You have one player throwing up historic numbers for a whole season...and he is in Miami. Durant is having a fantastic season, but by no means is he blowing Lebron away in the MVP race. To say "there is no competition" for Durant is just being ignorant to whats going on.

You must be kidding now.Durant has the same ppg with LBJ and as you say he is not in Miami. No Wade to close the games. He does it on his own.And believe me they win most of their games by 2-5 points. He does it very often this year.A lot more often than anyone else.Maybe Miami will have a better record at the end of the year and LBJ will win the award.I was exaggerating a bit in the thrill of the moment if the words I used is the problem with you but right now Durant has a clear edge..As clear as crystal. You may be ignorant a little bit to whats going on this year with Durant.Allow me to show you what happened the same exact moment when LBJ guarded Howard in the post that won so much praise by you.

Are you friggin serious? You have never heard of Russell Westbrook? 5th in the league in scoring? To act as if Durant has no help is ridiculous. Westbrook may be the most athletic point guard in basketball. You have to be kidding me...

Id still say Rose is more athletic, Westbrook just physically looks it. He's a great player in his own but no where the caliber of Wade and certainly not as much of a killer late in games. I just find it hard to give an MVP award to a guy who is playing with the best SG in the NBA/top 3-5 player and arguably the best PF in the game. Lebrons hands down the best player in the NBA and world. Stats are the best, best record in the East(maybe NBA, I haven't looked) but I think his value is a bit overrated based on his two bffs.

Oh and this whole Greg Oden shit isn't even funny anymore. He should retire just like Roy did. He's never going to he healthy. At the very least take two years off and make sure you're ready to ball but knowing him, he'll tear his knee sleeping. Sad.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Greg Oden can't catch a break. Dang shame. People tend to rip on guys for being injury prone...as if they could control such a thing. Some people just get the shaft on some things. Greg Oden got the shaft on health.

No I don't.I don't say he doesn't have help.He may have one of the best supporting casts in the league.I am saying that he closes the games 80% on his own. With great success.

1.As good and athletic as Westbrook is he is not Wade.Especially in closing games.
2.Most of the times when the game is on the line and Westbrook tries something he chokes. He misses or he turns it over back to back. Not always but most of the times. That is one of his flaws. And that's why Durant is mad with him so many times. If you remember there were rumors that Westbrook would leave the team because Durant was so mad after some Westbrook plays. And that's why the ball is now always on Durant's hands when the game is close.
3.When someone scores over 50% of his team points in the 4th quarter you can say that he won the game on his own in the end.It happened so many times this year that it is so predictable now. When Okahoma is trailing by 5-10 points with 5-6 minutes left or the game is tied with 1-2 minutes left you know that it is KD time.

Lebron's value is overrated? He is the best in the world but he is overrated? I don't really understand that one...

And Wait....so Magic and Bird's awards shouldn't have happened, because they played with great players? Jordan played with the best SF of his time, he didn't deserve those MVPs?

And lol at the thought of me LOOKING at Westbrook and saying he is athletic...no...

If you compare their stats one by one then LeBron is the MVP.
If you compare their contribution for their team Wins then Durant is the MVP by far this year.

Lebron has 27.9ppg 8.2rpg 6.8apg 1.7spg and 0.65bpg
Durant has 27.7ppg 8.2rpg 3.3apg 1.3spg and 1.28bpg

Lebron has better stats but Durant has pretty much the same stats and his contribution in team wins in the last 5 minutes is extremely high.He have won so many games on his own in the last 5 minutes of the game. That's why he has the edge right now.

The whole Greg Oden situation is just sad. When he's been healthy, he truly does look like he can have a huge impact on the defensive end. It's unfortunate that, as of right now, he'll never have a chance to capitalize on his gifts.

Lebron's value is overrated? He is the best in the world but he is overrated? I don't really understand that one... His VALUE is overrated...value that does not mean LeBron the player is overrated. It's like anything valuable in the world, the more there is, the leas value it has. Wade and Bosh are of the highest value in terms of quality NBA players.

And Wait....so Magic and Bird's awards shouldn't have happened, because they played with great players? Jordan played with the best SF of his time, he didn't deserve those MVPs? I don't care about what happened decades ago. Honestly can't talk to you about bird and magic bc I was young enough during jordans era and if not for DVDs, YouTube and NBA classics, It would be ebb more of a blure. But when it came to MJ(LBJ), he didn't follow Pippen(Wade) who already established himself as a champion, Finals MVP. While I don't agree with them, there's plenty of ppl who say Pippen was Pippen bc of Jordan. You'll never hear that about Wade who single handedly carried the Heat for a few years. Oh and Bosh basically carried Toronto as well, though not as well as Wade and LBJ did their teams. Idk how else to explain it to you.

And lol at the thought of me LOOKING at Westbrook and saying he is athletic...no...

I never said you specifically did I? I'm saying people In general bc they don't know any better. But get defensive about it.

I say Westbrook is one of the most athletic pgs in the game, you are saying "people think Westbrook is athletic because he just looks that way"...and that was in no way directed at me...the guy who just stated, without prompting, that Westbrook was very athletic. Oh, okay, I usually defend my position when someone disagrees. But you were talking about general opinion...though I brought it up...got you. My apologies.

You don't want to notice that Bird played with 2 all time great players, so did Magic...because it was decades ago. So somehow the rules have changed, and you are not MVP worthy, because you play with all time great players. And by playing with those great players, your value decreases. OK...

lol who knows. All I know is when I saw him for the first time as a 18-year old freshman at OSU, I was like "That dude looks like he's 30 already."

Of course he got the shaft on health. He entered the NBA when he was already over 40. Now he's in his 50s.

Oh, okay, I usually defend my position when someone disagrees. But you were talking about general opinion...though I brought it up...got you. My apologies. I can understand why you think it would be directed at you but again, speaking in general bc I've heard it a lot and just giving my quick take on it.

Not that I don't want to notice but that I personally shouldnt actually debate those years based on my lack of knowledge bc im 26 years old. And to be honest, I'm not much of a history geek when it comes to the NBA. Sorry I'm not afraid to admit I dont know what I'm talking about, unlike some who have their opinion on everything(thanks to google) and just like to argue... Rules haven't changed, but people obviously have different views on what an MVP is and the criteria that goes with it. Yes I look at the word value and I say a player on a less talented team is more valuable than a player who plays alongside perennial all-stars and in Wades case, a future HOFer. Is that really such a crazy opinion in your eyes? Oh wait of course not, it's LeBron. Best player in the world so he's automatically the MVP. Face the facts right? Please. You're incapable of actually reading an opposing opinion and actually taking a second to think about and understand why someone might think that. Instead let's just tell people what they think.

Btw nice to see that once again, your biggest contribution to the forums is LeBron praising/defending. God forbid you don't get into a pissing match every single time you post.
