Nice inning for TBR..3-0 TBR going to BOT of 2nd
Wilson going to get PAID!!
No way. He clearly only is going to get 10 million a year... 12 at the most because he isn't an ace.
You're right we shouldn't get Wilson because he didn't pitch well in game 1. Silly me.
Also the price tag of CC is 23 million right now, and if opts out it will be higher.
If the any team is going to pay Wilson a lot of money, postseason success has to be taken into account for smart teams to bid on him.

3.70 ERA in postseason play heading into today doesn't count as success?
And again this idea that players can raise and lower their abilities depending on the situation isn't supported by any empirical evidence.
I dont think CC will want higher rate per year..he be looking for more years on contract....I dont see cubs signing CC anyways....Im just saying i sign Fielder 27 y/o STUD over Wilson who is not an ACE. He a very good SP but he not even a SP that people would menntion when people talk about a SP to pitch a huge game.
If a player doesn't preform as a #1 starter when needed the most, I wouldn't pay him #1 money.3.70 ERA in postseason play heading into today doesn't count as success?

This.Agreed. If your going to pay a SP to be your team number 1 you need to make sure he can have playoff sucess
By the defintion of ACE that you seem to have there are maybe 10 of those in baseball. The odds of getting one of those without developing them yourself is very slim and basically involves paying a guy well over 20 million for 5 or more years.
Show me proof that a player can consistently perform above his baseline production in postseason play and I will buy your argument. Until that point, it is as silly as the Cubs investing in Jeromy Burnitz because he had the 6th highest OPS with RISP one season.
