Wrong. If Foles plays well he will void the contract and be a free agent.

...and resign with the Bears making it all the more necessary not to tag Mitch. If Foles plays well enough to void his contract, it stands to reason that Mitchell let us down again...lol.

Seems that everyday of TC the point is becoming more mute.

*moot.

And yeah, Mitch seems to be playing well...on twitter...in training camp. Maybe he'll get a training camp award for most improved. We've all seen Mitch play...no one is buying it until he strings together a few impressive games.

Yes,moot, thanks, my bad. And more than a few impressive games. I don't want him resigned at less than top 15 maybe top 12 QB stats, assuming he is healthy all season.
I think the main difference is I think he has that in him, where you don't.

Am I the only one who remembers how the reports out of training camp last year for Mitch were predicated on how he looked good on short and intermediate routes? Struggled with the deep ball.

I'm not so sure about that. Certain posters think its better he doesn't play well so we don't have to have the problem of paying him in the offseason.
That is not the case with halftime. Halftime wants and only wants Mitch to fail so that he can be proved right all his Mitch hating the past 4 years. He is the worst so kind of "fan"

Isn't the overall consensus not so much people don't want Mitch to fail so the Bears don't franchise tag him, rather they hope he doesn't put up marginally good numbers so the Bears don't get stuck with said marginal QB play for years to come?

Mitch 2018 was marginal at best. Outside of Bear nation plenty on National media still had plenty of doubts about Mitch, before the 2019 season ever go under way.

Franchise tagging Mitch in 2021 after a 9-7 or 10-6 season in which the he threw for 3500-3900 yards would spell yet another year of mediocrity at best. For the Bears to even consider it Mitch should need to throw for 4000+

Can the Bears even afford to FT Mitch in 2021?
Worry about your shit team.

No it's not. Foles is trash. There is no "good" foles, there is just not bad foles.

This is not about money.

Get it through your thick skull.

Imagine thinking having to pay good players is a bad problem to have. Jesus christ. You always have the worst takes on this forum and you refuse to ever give an inch on them.

Imagine wanting a player you drafted with the highest pick in franchise history to fail because you don't want your team to spend money on him.

Again you seem confused. The issue is not thinking having a good player is bad. The issue is Trubs has not proven he is a good player.

The issue is also not that I want Mitch to fail. The issue is he is currently failing.

Once again, there is a season starting soon. I will give an inch when he actually excels on the field not because some dude/girl deepthroats him on the internet.

Dial it down a notch kid. The season will tell us the truth. Not you.

Sounds made up. He’s actually got an opt out the next 2 years.

No that is correct. The opt out is him playing half the snaps and Bears making NFC Championship. At least that is what was reported.

Wrong. If Foles plays well he will void the contract and be a free agent.

No once again the opt out is based on snaps and us making NFC championship.

His putting up great stats is what earns him the incentives and bumps up his salary the following year. It does not trigger the opt it.

Unlike you guys I research before I speak. Foles could throw 50 TDs but unless we reach the NFC championship he stays with the Bears. What would happen is he would likely earn the escalators and his salary would increase the following year but it would still be well below the salary for a starter.

If that’s how you feel about Foles, then you might as well tag that same line to Trubisky as well. Look, I want Trubisky to succeed, but the reality is he has similar production to Foles. They have both looked good and bad at times. Neither have been consistently good. Trubisky looking better in camp over Foles does not say much. It tells me a mediocre QBs is out playing another mediocre QB in practice.

Worth mention Fishbain went on to explain both QBs were “solid but not spectacular” and neither separated from the other.

But do you really believe the coaches see it that way ?

Mitch has been working with these guys for years and if he is only neck and neck with a guy who basically just walked in off the street 3 weeks ago why would the coaches somehow be thinking the guy who just got here is not any good ?

Wouldnt they be thinking if we are getting this from Mitch after 3 years of getting ALL the reps and Foles is giving us this 3 weeks off the proverbial street what happens if we gave Foles all the snaps for any length of time ?

I dont think anyone expected Foles to wow us with his athleticism and its great to see Mitch finally start making some plays against he #1 defense but he should be the most comfortable offensive player in the building as hes been there longer practically every other offensive players besides Cohen and Whitehair .

This. Plus, should Foles play well, play half the snaps and Bears make the NCF Championship -- and thus Foles could void the contract... Foles would want to resign/restructure with the Bears. The guy's been tossed around the league; he wants a secure starting-role home. If the Bears intend to start him, he'll sign. His priority is not going after the most $ possible.

I think the coaches are going to play the better QB to start the season. I have no idea how the coaches evaluate this. Nagy has said most of the evaluation comes from watching the film post practice so nobody outside of the coaching staff really knows. If it takes Foles longer to get up to speed and separate himself then there’s nothing that can be done about that. Either way I believe we will see both QBs this season. Likely due to injury since neither can stay healthy.
