Damn, Castro's on-base streak ended! he had reached in every MLB game he'd played before today.

Mariano Rivera is usually lights-out, but is aging, that's why he has regressed a little, Jonathan Broxton's good, there are a lot of good closers in the game.

If your not joking, who is then?
Lets see...

Broxton

Bailey

Mo

Brian Wilson

Bell

Soria

Downs

And probably a few more. Marmol as the most dominating closer? Puh-lease. Almost as laughable as someone saying that a marijuana joint is as dangerous as 20 cigarettes, or however many idiots are saying nowadays.

Take a look at their numbers the past two years:

Carlos Marmol: 12.2 K/9 6.5 BB/9 1.9 K/BB .161 BAA 1.26 WHIP 3.06 ERA/3.86 FIP/4.33 xFIP

Broxton: 12.8 K/9 3.1 BB/9 4.1 K/BB .192 BAA 1.02 WHIP 2.43 ERA/1.82 FIP/2.26 xFIP

Bailey: 9 K/9 2.6 BB/9 3.5 K/BB .176 BAA .89 WHIP 1.69 ERA/2.61 FIP/3.42 xFIP

Mo: 9.7 K/9 1.5 BB/9 6.5 K/BB .189 BAA .82 WHIP 1.77 ERA/2.71 FIP/2.56 xFIP

Brian Wilson: 10.5 K/9 3.5 BB/9 3 K/BB .236 BAA 1.26 WHIP 3.21 ERA/2.81 FIP/3.15 xFIP

Bell: 9.9 K/9 3.2 BB/9 3.1 K/BB .232 BAA 1.21 WHIP 3.01 ERA/2.82 FIP/3.09 xFIP

Soria: 10.4 K/9 2.8 BB/9 3.7 K/BB .214 BAA .98 WHIP 2.18 ERA/3.28 FIP/3.25 xFIP

Now would you guys mind telling me how Marmol is better than each of those guys?

And hm, thought Downs was the closer.

I never said he was, just hoped you were kidding about Downs. Sean Marshall is better than Scott Downs. Marmol is probably the 7th or 8th best closer in the majors and is on the rise, not to mention look at all of his strikeouts.

Yea, and look at all of his walks, batters hit, wild pitches, etc. When he does get hit, he gets hit hard anyways.

let's not argue, Marmol may be the most dominating closer in the future, we never know, but he definitely isn't right now.

If Marmol throes stikes he is one of the most dominating closers in the game right now.

When he does, and that is the reason that he will never be nothing more than a pretty solid closer. Show me one closer whose been one for over a decade with subpar control and thrived.

Marmol's command is always good when he pitches back to back but when he doesn't he is just avergae.
